Avinash Samaroo – Suzuki Swift Sport Z33*

Just imaging being so good no one else came out to compete against you! Well, kind off. Avi has consistently been one of the better performing drivers at autocross and even in the torrential rain he managed to set the best time of the day at 92 seconds! Perhaps those X7 LEDs supplied by Southern Hybrid Parts Specialist had something to do with it!! Large Up Avinash for always showing up, pitching in and driving hard, Cheers!

2nd Place – Jonathan Ramcharitar – Nissan Silvia S15

One of these things is not like the others…. But it does belong!
The only competitor man enough to bring a rear wheel drive platform out to the water park Jonathan came out to enjoy this gem!

The crowd was treated to a spectacle of rev limited rear end slides as the SR20VVL’s turbo flutter echoed through the rainfall. Major props to Jonathan for keeping the Nissan composed in these conditions and having fun with the hand he was dealt. Always great to see these JDM legends being enjoyed as they were designed to be!

STU
1st Place – Neil Gopeesingh – Suzuki Swift Sport Z31

The Valvoline lubed Swift Sport has seen its fair share of track duty, from hard accels at drags to the low end grunt matches at Gridkhana and worst of all the occasional drives to Massy for pampers. (Not for Neil Though)

This right here is testament of the importance of on time services with quality lubricants and a little TLC. Over the last year we have seen Neil tinker, tighten and test the swift in his goal to iron out all the kinks of forced induction on a NA motor and my, my how far this swift has come. The true embodiment of function over form, every nut and bolt on this sinister ride keeps the M15 heart ticking.

EPR
1st Place Christopher Ramnauth – BMW Mini Cooper (John Cooper Works)

Another hyper tuned hot hatch from the Flatout Motorsports warehouse. The Mini Cooper has long held the podium position in all walks of motorsport. From British B road rally courses to the Long Circuits at the Mini Cooper Cup these well engineered multitools have amazing tuning potential, a characteristic that will no doubt keep surprising us as Chris extracts more from the turbo charged inline 4.
Keep your eyes on our socials, perhaps we may see this pepper white delight turn the rollers at TGA Dyno Day 2 on July 12th!

New Competitor

Brendan R Vlogs – 1996 Nissan Sentra (D Mean 14)

Brendan traded his usual view from behind the lens to one inside a helmet for his first jump into racing. This is how it all starts; a sight turns into an emotion which grows into a passion. After sitting on the sidelines for previous events Brendan came to realization that all new drivers have, it doesn’t take racing experience or a track focused car just the will to show up and drive!

In our lunch break interview at event 2 Brendan told us all about the adrenaline that the morning runs brought and his interest in returning. His B14 had the complete daily driver set up, stock suspension, road tyres and a loose nut between the seat and steering!
Great Job Brendan, See you at the next one!

EP

3rd Place – Nasa Ghany – Honda Civic EK

Now this writer may be biased, but the Honda Civic holds a special place in the hearts of many and by extension car culture around the world. In the 90s when MacPherson suspension was the mainstay of the economy car Honda made the bold engineering decision to give their family oriented compact Double Wishbone Front and Multi Link rear suspension, a decision that cemented it as an icon of entry motorsport.

Nasa is a lover of all things “H” as well, sporting the likes of the underdog Honda Fit and now this very smart EK Hatch with some rare mods for those with the trained eye. Despite what may be a significant torque gap Nasa kept up with the turbo charged lancer with a respectable 1.3 second delta T showing the pedigree, albeit, unintentional that the civic keeps to date.

EP
2nd Place – Daniel Persad – Mitsubishi Lancer

Don’t Be Fooled by this lancer’s “Stock” appearance, its one hell of a machine. For those that follow Dani’s numerous improvements on his YouTube page you’ll know that this lancer makes great useable power and has gone through many EVOLUTIONS over years but recently the one common denominator has been the Protura Race Tyres.

Despite the heart pounding acceleration of this turbocharged 4pot the Protura Race kept the lancer well composed and returning lap after lap! Dani and Lucky Lead the Way in EP class from the start of the day to the last drop of the chequered flag.

Davanti Tyres Spotlight

Lucky is an expert in all things sticky and rubber which set him up for a first-place finish in EP. We’ve long wondered if he has been using the TyrestickersTT glue on the tread instead of the side wall but the standing waters of event 2 put that to rest!

For this seasoned racer the decision for tyres was simple. The UK engineering behind the Protura Race Tyres from Davanti have made quite the impact in the grassroots autosport scene by providing superior traction in dry and wet conditions. For the new competitor, ready for that next step in performance for their ride or a returning class champ, the Protura provides a well balanced tyre at a price that is very competitive in a market saturated with ling longs.
