🧽 How Often to Replace a Kitchen Sponge

Weekly replacement recommended: Experts advise changing sponges at least once a week due to heavy daily use.

1–2 weeks maximum: If usage is lighter, you may stretch to two weeks, but beyond that bacteria buildup becomes unsafe.

Signs it’s time to toss:

Foul odor

Slimy texture

Visible wear, discoloration, or mold

🧼 Hygiene Maintenance Tips
After each use: Rinse thoroughly with soap and very hot water.

Microwave method: Place a damp (metal‑free) sponge in the microwave for 1 minute to kill bacteria.

Bleach soak: Use a 0.02% diluted bleach solution for 1 minute to sanitize.

Dishwasher cycle: Running sponges through a hot dishwasher cycle can help, but may not eliminate all bacteria.

📦 Storage Best Practices
