Here are my top 10 tips that helped me during my transformation:
1. You Can Eat Late at Night (If It Fits Your Calories)
Forget the myth that late-night eating makes you gain fat. What matters is your total calorie intake, not when you eat. I lost fat while eating dinner as late as 10 PM—just kept it within my daily goal.
2. Consistency Beats Perfection
I didn’t follow my plan 100% every single day. Life happens. But even on tough days, I aimed for 80% consistency over time, which made all the difference. Stop waiting for the “perfect” time to start.
3. Stop Obsessing Over Cardio
Cardio is great, but it’s not the magic solution. I focused more on strength training to build muscle, which boosted my metabolism and helped me burn fat long-term.
4. Protein is Your Best Friend
If you want to stay full and promote fat loss, hit your protein goal every day. I made sure to get 1g of protein per pound of body weight.
5. Lift Heavy (Even If You Want to Lose Fat)
People often think lifting light weights with high reps is best for fat loss. Lifting heavy helped me maintain muscle and made me look leaner as the fat came off. More muscle = higher calorie burn.
6. You Don’t Have to Give Up All Junk Food
I still ate burgers, pizza, and ice cream. The trick? Moderation and tracking. I learned how to fit my favorite foods into my diet without blowing my progress. It’s all about balance.
7. Patience > Quick Fixes
I didn’t see my abs overnight, and neither will you. Avoid falling for “30-day transformations” or fad diets. Focus on the long game. Slow progress is sustainable progress. Trust the process!
8. There’s No Perfect Diet
Low-carb, keto, paleo—there’s no one-size-fits-all. I found what worked for me by experimenting with different diets and sticking to what I could maintain long-term. Your perfect diet is the one you can stick to.
9. Don’t Rely on Motivation
Motivation comes and goes. Discipline is what keeps you going. On days when I didn’t feel like working out or eating healthy, I still did it. Those days build character and consistency.
10. Invest in Your Mindset as Much as Your Body
My transformation was just as mental as it was physical. I worked on my mindset—overcoming negative self-talk, staying patient, and visualizing success. Your body follows where your mind goes.
