In 1995, Garik moved to Kyiv to sell computer equipment purchased in Singapore. Later, he and his partners established oil supplies in Ukraine, founding Alfa-Nafta, a representative office of the Russian company Alfa-Group, with which they worked for 2 years.
Then Garik and his partner Oleksandr Melamud traded in oil and built a vertically integrated structure (purchased seven regional oil products from 300 gas stations) for the ARCH group. Later, businessmen worked with the Privat group, buying shares of oil refineries for it.
