Mjölnir, runes, the Valknut, Yggdrasil, Gungnir, and ravens belong to different kinds of Norse and Germanic evidence. Vegvísir and Ægishjálmur come from much later Icelandic magical manuscripts, not the Viking Age. A symbol can remain meaningful today without moving it into a period where it did not exist.

“Celtic” does not describe one timeless culture with one symbol dictionary. The triquetra, triskelion, Brigid’s cross, Awen, interlace, spiral forms, Green Man, and images linked with Cernunnos come from different regions, periods, and living traditions. Responsible use begins by naming those differences.

The ankh is an Egyptian hieroglyph associated with life and a divine attribute often shown in the hands of gods. It appears in temple, funerary, and royal imagery, sometimes offered toward a person’s nose or mouth as the breath of life. Its modern use continues a long visual life—but deserves its Egyptian context.

The ankh, wedjat eye, scarab, djed pillar, tyet knot, was sceptre, uraeus, and winged sun disk each belong to distinct Egyptian religious and royal contexts. They should not be compressed into a generic list of “mystical symbols.” History reveals how life, protection, regeneration, divine power, and kingship were expressed visually.

Persephone is both Kore—the maiden daughter of Demeter—and queen of the underworld. Her story belongs to Greek myth, agriculture, marriage, death, return, and the mysteries at Eleusis. The popular “goddess of spring” description captures only part of a much deeper ancient identity.

Freyja is far more than a goddess of love. Norse sources connect her with desire, wealth, seiðr magic, battle, the slain, falcon imagery, cats, and the Brísingamen necklace. Her many roles resist the tidy categories modern summaries often impose.

Cernunnos is famous today, but the ancient evidence is surprisingly limited. His name appears only a few times, and the well-known antlered figure on the Gundestrup Cauldron is not actually labeled. Modern associations with nature, animals, fertility, and the Horned God are meaningful developments—but not a complete surviving ancient biography.
