🇺🇦 VOLNOVAKHA — A POSTAL RARITY FROM THE WAR

Some stamps become rare because of their age. Others become rare because they capture a moment in history that can never be repeated.

This Volnovakha postal booklet is one of them.

On February 24, 2022, Volnovakha was among the first Ukrainian cities to face the full force of the Russian invasion. A strategically important railway hub connecting Mariupol with Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia, the city endured two weeks of devastating fighting. Much of Volnovakha was destroyed, and the surviving residents were forced to evacuate.

On March 6, 2022, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Volnovakha the honorary title “Hero City of Ukraine” in recognition of the extraordinary courage and resilience of its people.

The stamps in this booklet are already considered rare, making this a particularly meaningful piece of modern Ukrainian philately.
