Abbeville Cultural and Historical Alliance Discover Abbeville’s rich history, Acadian heritage, and local art in the heart of Vermilion Parish.

09/08/2026

These historical photographs from the Vermilion Historical Society have been digitally animated to give us a new way to experience the people, places, and stories that shaped our parish.

On display are historical photographs, information, and artifacts from Vermilion Parish, including the Morgan Effigy—a uniquely carved deer antler discovered in a Native American mound in Pecan Island.

History lives in the stories, artifacts, and photographs we preserve—and sometimes, seeing them move makes the past feel a little closer.
