Arrowroot is AmAzInG and I can't help but love it. The dark and dirty outside hides pure and beautiful red streaked insides. 💚🌿
BUT it is my arch NEMESIS. 😵💫
To make the powder from the plant that hides it's beauty deep within, it is a process that feels like days, no, weeks actually years... (It's really only days and I'm exaggerating. BUT the process it's... It's sooooo time consuming, so so so much!!! BUT in the long run SOOO worth it.
Back when our daughter Jersey first needed drastic lifestyle changes and I needed to change products to.. I was clueless. I had a hippie friend that inspired me but didn't know where to start.. I even went looking for this specific "ingredient" at the craftstore. Well now we are years in, lessons learned, products tested, trials taken and Wild-n-Wander has bloomed.
What I've learned is,
1. If you are purchasing a product from the store that says organic there is a out a 99% chance it actually isn't organic and only one ingredient is. I know right! I fell for that too. I learned from the leading dermatologist, DO's and nutritionalists. The FDA regulations state it can be labeled so if it has an ingredient in it that is.
2. There are very few actual Organic products on the shelves. The list we were provided was less than a computer paper.
3. There is a reason true blue organic products are slightly higher in cost and that is because of the effort and other ingredients included. But with that said it should also last longer, go further and in the long run do it job and keep you here on this planet healthier and happier.
Now back to the Arrowroot I have a love hate relationship with and why we choose it for our products.
🌿 Why We Love Arrowroot 🌿
Sometimes the simplest ingredients are the ones that do the most work.
Arrowroot powder is a fine, plant-based starch made from the roots/rhizomes of tropical plants. In natural body-care products, we love it because it can:
✨ Absorb excess moisture — helping skin feel drier and more comfortable without relying on talc.
✨ Reduce that greasy feeling — when added to balms, butters and oil-based products, arrowroot can help give them a softer, silkier finish instead of leaving skin feeling overly oily.
✨ Help with friction & chafing — because it absorbs moisture and gives products a smooth feel, it can be especially useful in products designed for sweaty or high-friction areas.
✨ Create a soft, silky texture — arrowroot can improve the feel of body powders, deodorant-style products and body butters.
✨ Keep formulas simple — it gives us another plant-derived option when we're creating products with straightforward, recognizable ingredients.
🌱 And one important thing: arrowroot isn't an antifungal medicine or a treatment for an infection. Its job is primarily moisture control, texture and comfort—and sometimes keeping an area dry is an important part of keeping skin happy.
From sweaty feet and work boots 👢 to thighs, skin folds and those everyday places nobody likes talking about—we believe body care should solve real-life problems without making anyone embarrassed about having them.
