I know for sure this Phoenix was is the final glaze load of Dancing Rabbit Pottery on the last afternoon it graced our lives and this earth.
Since none of the work already finished and sitting on shelves survived, even as a shard, with this much purity of color, I know it was protected inside the kiln during the fire. On the back of the shard, you can see the date 2022 and the last T of rabbit and JR for junior meaning me.
I will never stop missing Dancing Rabbit. For 33 years it was a living being for us and it became sentient, not just through our dedication and work, but also from the energy poured into it by our patrons, extended family and art community. I will grieve and miss it, for all my days, even I though I know it lives on in my jewelry work and the hearts of many. We will meet up again someday, at the end of the Milky Way, near the sacred Sky Vault… ga li e li ga, I’m grateful for the days we had … 💫 💜
