I purchased a half gallon of Peanut Butter Pandemonium the other day, so that seems like as good a flavor as any to show you guys what the inside of this book looks like. Stewart’s Frozen Dessert Flavor Index is available now for preorder, and ships at the end of the month! 🍨🍨🍨

I don’t even know where to start with this one. I’ve invested more time and energy into this project than anything I’ve ever made before, and I’m real friggin proud of it.

I present to you... Stewart’s Frozen Dessert Flavor Index (link in bio). I pored over old newspapers, digital archives, microfilm, archived versions of the Stewart’s website, library collections, dairy industry publications, and anything else I could get my hands on, in an attempt to catalog every publicly documented Stewart’s flavor that has ever existed. I’m not sure how many I was expecting to find when I started this project, but it was definitely… less than this.

Every flavor name gets its own page (all 516 of them), and on that page I’ve included every piece of information I could find about that particular flavor. Some are only a flavor name and the year it was first documented. Others include things like awards the flavor has received, alternate names it may have gone by, components of the flavor itself, documented formula changes, and some even have fun little tidbits like naming inspiration or contest winners. Every fact is sourced, and the book includes a total of 596 citations, each on the page of the flavor it applies to.

In the back of the book, I’ve included 11 different indexes that allow the reader to look up a flavor by year, dessert format, base flavor, particulate, variegate, flavor family, local geography, institutions, people, brands, or awards. Every fact is accompanied by a citation to back it up. I’ve really wracked my brain about how I could have been more thorough with this book, and just haven’t been able to come up with anything. I pulled this little weight out of a 1940s-ish crawfish trap at Susan Merrick’s house. It’s a little detail that made me smile, but the HM made me need to have it. So I pulled it out. Any ideas on what I should do with it? Big bulky ring? Put it on a chain? Embed it in my forehead?

I never miss a chance to snag one of these. This was actually intended to be used as wrapping paper! It was made in 1988 as a fundraiser for the Junior League of Albany. They came in pairs, rolled up with a little metallic sticker and a list/description of each landmark that was on it. Personally, I think it looks much better framed. Maybe that’s just me though. Measures about 23” x 35.5.” $165 plus tax. Local pick up only. DM to claim.

Dug this sweet 80s Metroland shirt out of the stash to show Metroland Now. I just now noticed that this was for the 500th issue, so that’s pretty sweet. I wonder what cover designer, Stephen Orsini, Grade 6, is up to these days 🤔

In a continuing effort to not go bankrupt with this big top secret book I’m publishing, I decided to start bringing some projects across the finish line that didn’t quite get there before. I was going to release this one shortly after the Nipper matchbook poster because… duh. Just never got there til now. This one is the same size as the Stewart’s checklist, but is obviously full color. One matchbook per page, printed at actual size. Available now on Amazon (link in bio as well). This is just a mockup, but I think that thickness is pretty close to accurate?

I’m not going to explain this shirt. It’s related to something I worked real hard on and am real proud of, so if you ✨truly believe in me✨ and want to support without even understanding what you’re supporting… this is the shirt for you. Trust me, bro.

🚨LINK IN BIO🚨 Hey friends. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this on here a few times, but I’ve been working on a big research project for a pretty long time. The final product is going to be a 600+ page book. It’s going to be fancy, and it’s going to be expensive to produce, but I couldn’t be more excited about it.

Recently, I had an idea for a completely different book. It’s way less fancy, and is mostly just meant for glove compartments and pockets. My thought was… maybe this other, non-fancy book might be able to help cover some of the cost for the other one? I don’t know how many people are as pumped about both ice cream and keeping track of things as I am, but maybe there are a few.

Anyway, this little 4”x6” jammer contains a listing of every current Stewart’s location, along with space for the date of visit and notes. There’s also some “challenges” to beat. Things like visiting every shop that doesn’t have a gas station, or visiting every one in the Adirondack Park.

As a father, I’m planning to use this as a tool to get more ice cream into my body while pretending that it’s all about teaching my kids numbers and geography. I may not be the only father who might appreciate such a tool. Just sayin. *ahem* AVAILABLE NOW on Amazon (I know, I know) and soon directly from me, but not in time to grab one for the big guy.

I haven’t used this platform in a while… so I’d be surprised if many people saw this post. If you happen to be one of them (you are) and wouldn’t mind sharing or saving or whatever the thing is that you’re supposed to do to make more people know about a thing you think is good… please do that? ❤️ Mitch

This is the last Fantacon piece I have in the stash. Worth nothing that this one is actually a poster, not a program. It’s quite a bit larger too, at approximately. 22”x30” with the frame. Unline the programs I posted, this piece actually also comes with a two-day admission ticket to the event too. $220 plus tax. Local pick up only. DM to claim.
