Following a dream from Texas to Utah… and all the way to ONE MILE. 🤠🎯

Willard Cox made the two-day drive from Texas for our July 31–August 1 Precision Rifle 201 class with one big goal: complete the Milk Jug Challenge Grand Slam.

Friday, he took 10 shots at the 6” × 10” milk jug at one mile but couldn’t connect.

Saturday he came back for redemption.

Shot No. 4… 💥 ONE MILE!

And that celebration is 100% Willard. 😂 He and his buddy brought an infectious level of enthusiasm to the firing line all weekend.

By the time they headed back to Texas, Willard had hit milk jugs at:

🎯 1,000
🎯 1,200
🎯 1,500
🎯 1 Mile
🎯 2,000 YARDS

That’s the LRSU Milk Jug Challenge GRAND SLAM—something only a handful of our students have ever completed during a class. And Willard did it his first weekend attempting it. 🤯

Rifle Setup:
🔹 Preece Precision 6.5 Creedmoor
🔹 Lone Peak Fuzion Action
🔹 TriggerTech Diamond
🔹 Accuracy International AT-X Chassis from Mile High Shooting
🔹 Leupold Mark 5HD 5-25
🔹 ARC M-Brace Rings
🔹 Flatline Ops Bubble Level
🔹 Evolution Bipod
🔹 Eagle Eye Precision Ammunition

Outstanding shooting, Willard! 👊

🔥 Stay tuned tomorrow for his 2,000-yard Milk Jug hit AND his review of the LRSU experience.

One of the most rewarding parts of teaching Precision Rifle 201 is watching students we’ve seen start as complete beginners in our Intro to Long Range class become confident, independent long-range shooters.

PR201 is where we step back and let the students take the wheel. They zero their own rifles, set their own zero stops, spot for one another, make their own wind calls, and solve problems themselves. Watching that confidence click into place is why we love teaching this class.

This group came from Texas, Michigan, California, and Utah, and they put on one of the best performances we’ve ever seen in a PR201 class.

🏆 Grand Slam: Willard (TX), Brady (UT), Murray (MI), and Marcus (UT).

🏆 Milk Jug Slam: Dave Sauer (CA), David Sauer (UT), and Jeremy (MI), who completed the Slam during his very first LRSU class.

🔥 1-Mile Milk Jug: Willard, Jeff, and Clint (TX); Dave Sauer (CA); David Sauer (UT); Jeremy (MI); Chris U. (UT); Scott (UT); and Brady (UT).

🔥 2,000-Yard Milk Jug: Willard (TX), Brady (UT), Murray (MI), and Marcus (UT).

A huge thank you to North Springs Shooting Range and Range Master Scott Olson for providing such an incredible venue, and to Jordan & Easton Baugh and Nick Peterson for sharing their knowledge and helping make this class such a success.

Most of all, thank you to everyone who traveled from across the country to spend the weekend with us. Seeing your growth from new shooters to confident, self-sufficient riflemen is what makes these weekends so rewarding.

Stay tuned… we’ve got some incredible videos from this class coming soon.

50 Cal Devastation. 💥

Apparently, 4’ x 4’ of 5/8” AR500 steel is no match for the 9,682 ft-lbs of energy the 750gr Hornady A-MAX is packing at 600 yards. Knocked that sucker right of the chain. I had to use ratchet straps to get it back in place.

The setup:

🔹 Steyr HS50 (.50 BMG)
🔹 Nightforce ATACR 5-25
🔹 Thunder Beast Ultra 50RR Suppressor
🔹 Hornady 750gr A-MAX

A huge thank you to Mile High Shooting for trusting us with this incredible rifle, optic, suppressor, and ammunition so we could test it, create content, and let our students experience a suppressed .50 BMG.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a Steyr HS50 to your collection, give Mile High Shooting a call—and as always, try code LRSU.

🚨 All 2026 public classes are sold out. Registration for our 2027 schedule opens Thanksgiving Day.

What’s better than shooting a suppressed .50 BMG?

Watching an entire class do it. 😎🎯

After wrapping up our July 10–11 Intro to Long Range class, every student had the opportunity to step behind the Steyr HS .50 and send one round at a target 1,000 yards away.

For most of them, it was the first time they’d ever fired a .50 BMG.

Needless to say… there were a lot of smiles. 😁

This compilation shows every student touching one off, followed by one final shot all the way to impact at 1,000 yards.

A huge thank you to Mile High Shooting for loaning us this incredible setup:

• Steyr HS .50 Bullpup
• Nightforce ATACR 5-25
• Thunder Beast Ultra 50RR Suppressor
• Hornady 750gr Match Ammunition

It’s partnerships like these that allow us to create unforgettable experiences for our students while putting some incredible equipment through its paces.

If you’re thinking about picking up a Steyr HS50, give Mile High Shooting a call.

And as always…

Try code LRSU. You might save yourself a little money. 👊

Some students become customers.

Some become friends.

Carlos became family. 👊🎯

A few years ago, Carlos traveled from New York to attend one of our Intro to Long Range classes.

In his very first class, he accomplished something only a handful of students have ever done—completing the Milk Jug Challenge Slam by hitting milk jugs at 1,000, 1,200, 1,500 yards, and one mile… all with one of our Preece Precision premium rental rifles.

That experience sparked a passion for long-range shooting.

Since then, he’s returned for our Precision Rifle 201 course, brought his son Joe to train with us, and had us build the 300 PRC you’re watching in this video.

His goal was to complete the Grand Slam by adding the 2,000-yard Milk Jug Challenge.

He came close… but this trip, the 2,000-yard jug won.

The one-mile jug didn’t.

Third shot…

💥 Milk jug.

Outstanding shooting.

What makes Carlos special isn’t just his shooting.

It’s his passion and enthusiasm.

Almost every day I get a notification that Carlos has tagged Long Range Shooters of Utah in a Facebook group or recommended us to someone looking for advice on rifles, training, or getting started in long-range shooting.

He has become our biggest ambassador, one of our closest friends, and someone we’re incredibly grateful to know.

If you’d like to follow his journey, check out his new page Long Range Craft Carlos Rodriguez

Carlos, thank you for your friendship, your ongoing support, and everything you do for LRSU.

We’ll get that 2,000-yard jug next time. 👊

🚨 All of our 2026 public classes are now SOLD OUT. Registration for our 2027 schedule opens on Thanksgiving. We hope to see you there!

It’s always a pleasure to have Carlos Rodriguez Ces Cas out for a class.

Happy y’all! 💥

11-year-old Kenny making it look easy, sending a water bottle flying at 100 yards with a serious setup:

🔹 MasterPiece Arms ESR – 6.5 Creedmoor
🔹 Leupold Mark 5 scope
🔹 American Rifle Company M-Brace rings
🔹 TriggerTech Diamond trigger
🔹 Thunder Beast Magnus SRR suppressor
🔹 Hornady 140gr Match ammunition

Not a bad way to spend a day at the range! 🇺🇸🎯
