Mike Brown has quietly put together one of the strongest coaching résumés of his generation:

🔸 Won Coach of the Year with Cleveland in 2009 and Sacramento in 2023, 14 years apart.

🔸 Reached 7 NBA Finals and won 4 championships as an assistant coach.

🔸 Ended Sacramento’s 16-year playoff drought in his first season with the Kings.

🔸 Led the Knicks to their first NBA championship since 1973.

Not many coaches can say they’ve coached LeBron, won rings with the Warriors, revived the Kings, and delivered a championship to New York.

🚫 NO MATTER WHAT GOES WRONG IN EDUCATION, THE TEACHER IS SOMEHOW AT FAULT

Test scores drop.

Must be the teachers.

Students cannot read at grade level.

Must be the teachers.

Kids are struggling with mental health at rates nobody has ever seen before.

Must be the teachers.

The teacher shortage is getting worse every single year.

Probably because of the teachers.

Nobody ever asks why the building is falling apart.

Nobody asks why the budget keeps getting cut while the expectations keep getting bigger.

Nobody asks why parents have more authority over classroom decisions than the credentialed professional standing in the room.

Nobody asks why behavior that would result in consequences anywhere else in society results in a restorative conversation and a snack in the principal's office.

They just look at the outcomes, find the teacher standing closest to the problem, and start asking what she could have done differently.

You have been blamed for things that were broken before you got there.

You have been evaluated on outcomes that were never within your control.

You have been asked to fix problems that the people asking could not fix with unlimited time and unlimited resources.

And when it did not work, you were the answer to the question of why.
