What’s that quote about the little things really being the big things?

Sofia texted me this picture yesterday and said “Someone dropped these off for you. He said you’d know who they were from.”

Marigolds. My favorite. Because they were my Grandma’s favorite. She planted them every year. So, I plant them every year. And when we got married, everyone we knew planted them for us to use in my bouquet. The smell transports me back to my childhood, and they’ll forever be my favorite.

When someone not only remembers that but goes out of their way to make a special trip to bring you some just because they know it’ll make you smile…that’s a big thing.

And he was right. I knew exactly who it was as soon as I read it. It could only be Doug. Flower farmer extraordinaire. And a man with a heart bigger than his high tunnels.

Doug, thank you. You have no idea what this meant on a random Tuesday.

Operating this shop has been a whirlwind with so many challenges, but I’m so grateful for the people whose paths I’ve crossed because of it. And for the constant reminders of the beauty in this world. Heavy Petal truly has taught me that the little things really are the big things.

Meet Sofia, our newest floral designer and team member. Her first couple weeks have been such a joy, and we are so grateful she’s here.

Sofia found her way to floral design through community, which honestly might be my favorite thing about her. She’s spent three years serving in youth ministry at Eagle Brook Church in Anoka, and she says serving others is what makes life count. ❤️

When she’s not designing, you can usually find her outdoors. She loves to hike and spend time with family. Her favorite flowers are ranunculus and snapdragons, a girl after our own heart!

She’s currently studying at K&D Institute Of Floristry, working toward her PFD certificate, and her creativity is already shining through! Pictured here is her original design, “Tidal Wave,” now available at www.heavypetalfloral.com.

We can’t thank you enough for sticking with us through July. It’s been a month of change, and we’ve felt every bit of it.

We know our shortened hours this month were an adjustment (and probably annoying for some of you.) But that space gave us a little room to breathe, reflect, and figure out our next steps as a team. We’re trusting in God’s timing and taking things one day at a time.

Today, we have great news to share: we’re extending our hours!

We will be open and ready for you:

Monday 9-12
Tuesday-Friday 9-4
Saturday 9-1

And don’t forget, every Friday we’ve got Olivia Rose Blessing Bags’ lemonade stand and floral fundraiser out front. Grab a cup, build a bouquet, and support a great cause while you’re at it.

So grateful for this community. Thanks for being here. For liking and sharing and stopping in. For lifting us in prayer and cheering us on. You are our greatest blessing.

Sofia did an incredible job putting all of these floral arrangements together to create this beautiful window display! If you saw us standing outside the shop today staring at the window in awe and taking a million pictures, this is why!

The camera doesn’t do it justice. You have to come see it for yourself.

We’re open tomorrow (Saturday) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
