🛠️ We all feel a call to “do what you love.” Parents, teachers, pastors and culture all reinforce the message. Most importantly, the call comes from the Spirit within. To work and play freely, without shame or exploitation, is to feel integrated and alive internally - and within community and society.

🛠️ Tragically, our dominant, oppressive economic system deprives almost everyone of realizing this freedom to thrive. Too many are simply trying to survive under harrowing circumstances. That is ungodly.

🫶🏾 Is it possible to pivot from anti-Christ economy to loving our laborers?

🙌🏾 Join the conversation with Nurture the Soul, and learn how you and your church can concretely manifest sustained justice now and growing forward.

Jesus told us to build up the Kingdom in the here and now, but too many Christians today are only concerned with heaven and hell. Instead, we need to be more concerned with what happens here on earth. Christianity is a faith for the living. It should not be treated as a faith for the dead.

📅 SAVE THE DATE: Just Peace Sunday is September 20th 2026.

Each year, the United Church of Christ recognizes the Sunday before International Day of Prayer for Peace as Just Peace Sunday. We take this Sunday to renew our commitment to our Just Peace vision.

Being a peacemaker does not mean avoiding hard conversations. It means bringing grace, kindness, and Christ's love into them. May our words reflect the heart of Jesus today. 💙

"Defending the right to vote is a non-partisan action. The right to vote is not determined by political interests or participation in a political party. Rescinding the right to vote and violating the voting rights of eligible voters continues to be a strategy for culling voters, and influencing elections.

The SAVE Act, if passed, will disenfranchise millions by hindering their ability to vote. Upholding the right to vote is a justice issue. Justice places values on the rights of all, not on the rights of some.

Communities of faith continue to call for justice on multiple issues, including the call to protect the civil rights of voters. Voting is not only a civil right, but also a human right to be protected and guaranteed with dignity and respect."

-Rev. Dr. Karen Georgia Thompson
UCC General Minister & President
