When the wall beside the shower is narrow, the width is already decided and the height is the real choice. The Quadro Q2132 and the Q2154 are both 21¼ inches wide. Studio41's new Wellness Room at its Palatine showroom gives one whole wall to Amba: ten custom Modello i bars in Brushed Bronze, set at different lengths and heights across a patterned wall. The room opened on October 1, so if you are near Palatine you can see it in person.

A warm towel is the obvious part. Warm bars also help moisture evaporate, so towels can dry faster than they would on a hook or standard bar.

Plug-in or hardwired used to be a harder fork in the road. It still matters, but there is more flexibility now.

Several Amba collections, including Swivel, Cape, and Radiant, now include combination plug-in/hardwired models. Solo is the plug-in-only collection, and some collections remain hardwired-only.

On combo models, hardwired installation does not mean a different rack. The installer removes the plug end from the cable and wires it through an electrical coverplate. Two things decide what size heated towel rack a room needs: the towels and the wall. It's tempting to start with the wall.

Start with the towels instead. Bath sheets need more bar length than hand towels, and two people means two towels hanging at once. Then look at what wall is actually left after the door swing, the vanity, and the shower glass.

A hardwired heated towel rack normally has to stay outside the wet zone around the tub and shower. The wet-rated upgrade kit is how a Jeeves or a Cape can go there.

The kit is UL-certified and seals the rack where it meets the wall with a cover plate, grommet, L-tube, black sleeve and cover gasket. Order the wet-rated kit along with the rack so everything needed for the install is ready on site.

Warm metals keep coming back in bath design. This is the Traditional T-2040 in Brushed Bronze: an eight-bar hardwired rack, 20 inches wide by 42 inches high.

Brushed Bronze and Brushed Modern Brass are standard finishes on Traditional, not special orders. Both hardwired models carry them, the T-2040 and the T-2536 at 24 by 35 inches.
