The Blairsville Police Department’s 8th Annual Rubber Duck Derby splashes down TOMORROW… Saturday, September 5th at 11:00 AM at the Union County Farmers Market. Perfect way to kick off Labor Day weekend!
Every duck you adopt for $10 goes straight to Shop with a Cop, sending local kids on a Christmas shopping trip they’ll never forget. Winning ducks take home prizes too!
Haven’t adopted your duck yet? Call the department today at (706) 835-1692 or stop by their office at 96 Blue Ridge St before 4 PM.

Sorry for being MIA this week… I’ve been working nonstop, trying to get this design finished and spending countless hours tweaking/testing a ton of settings so that the laser would engrave my vision as closely as possible 👨🏻‍🎨
I’m just now realizing that I’ve also been a little somber this week… happens every year around this time (lost a bunch of friends 25 years ago 😢), but don’t worry, I’m snapping out of it. For everyone that’s been trying to get a hold of me this week, I’ll go down the list and reach out to everyone. Sorry about that… I was just in a weird place and I buried myself in work 😬
Anyway… I’m hoping to get them framed and finished, so that I can donate another big piece to the Blairsville Police Department for their Duck Derby Fundraiser this weekend. I’m also going to donate one to the Pickens County Sheriffs Department who will be auctioning it off at this weekend’s Jasper Jeepfest, where I’ll be a vendor, as well. This will be my fifth year doing this show, and All of the proceeds go to needy children in Pickens County… so it’s a Great Cause 🙏🏼

PS I just got done laquering them, so the video doesn’t really show how beautiful they actually are (Sorry for the sleepy voice in the video, btw lol 🫩).
I’m also including an ai-generated photo mock-up of MY DESIGN in a beautiful frame with a firehouse background… that way you can see what it’ll look like when it’s finished 🖼️

The day started off with a message thinking I was helping a fellow artist… things definitely took a turn south by this evening 😬 lol
I know my fellow vendors, as well as my local friends & customers within a 90 mile radius, are aware that I am LITERALLY the hardest working artist around. I receive no housing subsidies, no government assistance, no investment returns, no retirement, no pension, etc, etc, etc… my entire existence here in Blairsville relies on selling my artwork…. And every day I wake up, I realize that I am beyond blessed that I can make a living doing something that I love ❤️
And i’ll be damned if I’m gonna let some recently transplanted “ignorant person” belittle, slander and spread misinformation about my livelihood!!!
I’m usually the nicest guy in the world… but for something like this, I’ll hang them out to dry if they want to try to devalue my passion 💪🏻

I fought it for half the day… but I knew it was inevitable that I’d be doing a portrait of Dolly today 😔
Mom and Dad introduced me to her music, her story and her giving heart when I was a young child… and to this day, every time I’d hear a song from her or see her on TV, she always reminded me of Mom and Dad and a much simpler time in my life 🙏🏼

🦆 IT’S DUCK DERBY TIME AGAIN, BLAIRSVILLE!!! 🦆

The 8th Annual Rubber Duck Derby is on Saturday, September 5th… and this year, one little $10 duck is about to win one BIG prize 🏆

I’m proud to announce that GT Engraving is donating, in full, a museum-scale 24”x36” original artwork, hand-illustrated and laser-engraved piece of artwork. I’ve worked on the design for almost a year, exclusively for this event, and I’m extremely proud of it 🙏🏼
It is engraved in a classic Victorian steel-engraving style complete with a custom-made frame oozing with rustic elegance. This illustration captures the story of Blairsville itself: the historic 1899 courthouse, the old town square, a prospector panning for gold, a water-powered grist mill, and a mountain country church. The story of the various elements in the illustration are explained in an engraving on the back. Hanging Hardware is included and installed, as well 👍🏼

Take a good look at the photos… that’s the actual piece one lucky duck owner is taking home, and the detail is even more incredible in person. I have the piece on display in my booth at The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee, GA… come on by and see it in person!!! 🖼️

Anyway… Here’s how it works: adopt a duck for $10, and every numbered duck is an entry — both in the race, and for the grand prize artwork. Every dollar raised goes STRAIGHT to Shop with a Cop, which has sent over 3,000 Union County kids Christmas shopping with local officers since it started!!!! Help us keep that streak alive 🎄🎅🏻🤶🏻🎄
