I would NEVER miss a deadline for someone else.
But a deadline I gave myself? Apparently very negotiable.
For years, I gave the best of myself to my career, freelance clients, and pretty much anyone else who was counting on me. Then I expected my own business to grow with whatever time and energy I had left.
And I think a lot of us are really good at this, especially women.
We show up for everyone else because the thought of letting someone down feels awful. But when it comes to the things we want? We can push those to tomorrow. Or next week. Or when things “slow down.”
This isn’t your sign to work every night. I literally made Episode 1 about why I DON’T think you should do that.
It’s just your reminder that choosing to rest is very different from making yourself the easiest person to cancel on.
You don’t always have to come first.
But you can’t always come last either.

I started making candles because I liked making candles.
Very simple. Very innocent.
And then, as I tend to do with hobbies, I accidentally turned it into a whole business.
But that’s still one of my favorite things about shopping small. So many of the things you find exist because one person had an idea, got a little too obsessed with it, and decided other people might like it too.
Every order lets me keep doing exactly that. Making things I think are cool, sending them out into the world, and seeing if you think they’re cool too.
So thank you for continuing to enable this hobby 🤝

Turns out my version of chic is working with my dog, turning every hobby into a business, and making my house so cozy I never want to leave.

Life’s expensive.

But I’ve realized there are a few things I’ll happily spend money on every single time because they make ordinary days feel a little better.

🕯️ A candle I’ll actually burn (life’s too short to save the “good one.”)
☕ Good coffee.
🌷 Grocery store flowers.
🍷 The bottle of wine I’ve been waiting for the “right occasion” to open.
🥖 Fresh bread that somehow disappears in 24 hours.

None of these are necessities.

But they remind me that cozy isn’t something you earn after a productive week. Sometimes it’s just lighting a candle on a random Tuesday and deciding that’s reason enough.

Fast isn’t the same as right. The slow version is usually the one that actually lasts.

If you’re rebuilding right now — a home, a routine, a version of yourself — and it feels like it’s taking forever, that’s not a sign you’re behind. It’s a sign you’re finally doing it in a way that holds.

Here’s the part I didn’t expect: I was so sure that moment was going to be humiliating. Instead, total strangers just... showed up. No judgment, just hands helping me pick up glass off the floor.

I think about that a lot now…how often we brace for the worst version of a moment, and miss that people are usually kinder than we give them credit for.

Anyway. Never skip locking your table legs. 😅
