This free 40-minute session is designed especially for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, with older siblings always welcome to join the fun, too! 👶🎵

A librarian who has never spoken Mandarin just sang 笑一个 (xiào yí gè — Smile) — Song 2 from Book 1. With confidence.

Mom’s mom takes her turn. Dad’s mom takes hers. These two grandmas are the major caretakers of their grandson. Since he was 2 months old, these grandmas have been playing the book and singing with him.

Grandmother’s observation: Baby is very tentative and focused when hearing the JoJo musical books, and the grandmother loves to sing with him. Both grandmas live in Sichuan, China. Although they are native Chinese speakers, they are searching for the right song to sing while taking care of their grandson’s daily routine. Baby is 5 months old now. He is soaked in love, language, and music.

Sing it face to face. Pause. And watch what happens.

Before your baby has a single word, they already know what a conversation feels like. A smile, a kick, a gaze. This song was made for exactly that exchange. You sing, you pause, then one day, they will fill it with 会！(huì — I can!)
