Likers, it's been a while! I hope you've been well and happy, and hanging in there during these challenging times (pick your challenge, they're many and varied).

Here are some of the items I (finally) got around to listing, after months of being otherwise occupied. Several are "things I bought for myself and then had to admit will never fit me" or "things I bought for myself that are too similar to others in my personal collection, which is already beyond capacity, so must go." Update: The photo was taken in 1903. One clue to the year is her "cottage loaf" hairstyle, which was all the rage in the Edwardian era. Other clues to the early 1900s date are the high neckline, "pigeon" bust bodice, and A-line skirt.

In March I attended a presentation on travel-related rare books from the at the University of Georgia (see Instagram feed for photos). Afterward, archivist Anne Meyers DeVine told me there was a fashion-related exhibit on display.

Last month, I finally made my way to the library. Anne was there, and she graciously took me on an extended private tour!

"From Farms to Fast Fashion" is an extensive investigation of the factors affecting the dramatic shift from home/custom-made natural-fiber clothing meant to last, to today's cheaply made, mostly synthetic, throw-away garments.

These photos show a sliver of the exhibit, which touches on myriad aspects of clothing creation and consumption, from the cloth itself to industry advertising and technolog to political and social influences.
