The Costs of Sin

Bitterness is the greatest sin that a person can have in their soul. It is a leech that will drain you of all your love, joy, peace and strength. Bitterness will replace all that’s good with resentment, hate, malice, envy, and even sickness! Bitterness will literally do nothing but condemn the soul and destroy the body. I know from my own experiences that it caused me more trouble than it did the objects of my resentment. Holding bitterness within me caused me to suffer with a pituitary gland tumor on two different occasions. I believe that it was because of the hate within me. This bitterness may have caused my glands to release excess hormones causing the tumors that I had. I could feel the poison coursing through me. I had to realize that it wasn't worth dying for, or worth having surgery for either. So I sought the Lord and He healed me! But my greater warning to you on this matter is that Bitterness will affect your health, in the same way that stress and worry will.
Since the Lord called my husband and I into a deliverance ministry, He has allowed us to witness many people that struggle with bitterness. It is quite literally becoming an epidemic. Children are becoming bitter against their parents, wives against husbands, and people against those in authority over them. We’ve had to counsel many of them, and in some cases we have had to cast out devils because of their unwillingness to let go of hurt pain and bitterness. Unfortunately, most of the time when they come to us they do not know what’s going on. Sometimes they get mislabeled by psychologists as insane, depressed, or multiple personality problems, and so on. I believe that there is no such thing as multiple personality disorder.
I remember one time my husband and I were called to the church to meet a young man who we were informed was having awful fits of rage and violence. We later discovered that when he was a boy he was molested by a family member and became very bitter against them for that. A few years after his horrible childhood, during his teenage years, he ventured into what he described as a haunted house during halloween. He told us that when he attended that event that his body went numb, followed by blacking out. Then he began to talk in other voices, and become violent. He also said that he had other paranormal activity following him. We knew immediately what it was. Regardless of what anyone else called his affliction, it was the Name of Jesus that it came out of him, and left him! The Lord delivered and healed that young man that day. The last we heard from him, he was doing very well and still praising the Lord for his freedom from the evil that almost destroyed his life, and the lives of those around him.
So needless to say, the danger of holding in bitterness is all too real! It is very dangerous for those who decide to keep it.
