This is what I do when I’m making your stuff. I’m taking singing lessons. 😆
I actually have been for years, and piano and guitar. But I simply cannot bring myself to share until it’s good enough to share.

Custom check boxes for The Turtle Restaurant, made by me. (This is a common hinge mechanism, I did not invent it)

I’ll have to try the abandoned shoe factory tour/inventory auction livestream some time in November when it’s not blistering hot! There may be a working fridge downstairs in the building but there is NO AC and yesterday the high was over 100.
Thanks to everyone who watched me act a damn fool 🤣

If your friends don’t have mason jars of buttons….
If your friends don’t hit u up for crafty projects….
If your friends don’t have ten thousand side projects….
Well, I can’t tell you what to do, this is just the life I know.

Circa 2010ish I made these displays! The reason why I got a laser cutter in the first place was to help make things for the shoe business. I tried so hard to keep it separate and secret from Vinca because I am a little punk and this brand was more ahhh I don’t know how to put it. But the customer base didn’t quite overlap. I got scolded a lot.
I dragged the brand to Europe because somehow I thought there would be a demand for handmade shoes over there. There wasn’t.
I did things like:
Send care packages to celebrities (I got a letter back from Nicole Richie)
Send samples and press releases to all the magazines.
Write to all the mommy blogs and offer samples.
Pay for ads on mommy blogs
Write to potential stockists
Go to trade show after trade show after trade show barely breaking even or not.
I really believed “if you build it they will come”
Oh we also made an online store and had over a 50% return rate because…shoes.
And I still think it failed because I didn’t try hard enough or smart enough. Which is true, I made a lot of mistakes and did a lot of stupid things.
