Bring your bag of clothes to pass on.

Another clothing swap at the Avondale shop, and the idea is simple. You drop off a handful of pieces you’ve stopped reaching for, and you take home something a neighbor loved, but now needs a new home.

Same logic as refilling a jar. The good things are already out in the world, they just need a second round.

And if you don’t have anything to bring, come anyway, there’s always more than enough to go around.

We have a resident artist and a whole lot of blank white walls, so we did some obvious math on that.

I marvel at people’s artistic talents and admire so much when people are passionate about their artistry. Janely is one of those people. And is one of the many reasons we are so grateful to have them on the Joyful Jarra team.

It’s still summer-hot and the bugs have not gotten their back to school memo.

Sunscreen still matters and so does keeping the bugs off. We’ve got three different options for bug repellent and three for sunscreen.

And now there is a whole classroom of germs riding home with the kids every afternoon. The hand sanitizer spray refill is locally made by Starstone Apothecary. It comes in three scents, unscented, lavender, and bergamot. tuck one in a backpack, a bag, or the car door.

You too can get compliments from strangers about how good you smell!

Corinne makes these lotion bars on her farm. Eco Sun Farms is hers, a local Black woman farmer.

One is a hydrating bar you warm between your hands and rub straight onto skin. The other is an insect repellent version for time outside, a solid bar you swipe on before you head into the yard (instead of reaching for that bottle of Off).

The thing about a lotion bar is there is no water and no plastic bottle, just oils and butters pressed into a solid, so it lasts a good while and you use only what your skin takes in. Both come in a regular size and a mini.

On the shelf and at markets now.

Wesley “the customer” 😉 grabbed a basket and shopped the whole store to his heart’s desire, and now you can too!

We’ve got baskets in the shop now (like the ones at the grocery store), courtesy of Community Farmers Markets. Fill one up as you go instead of carrying an armful or running back to the counter every time you need to add something to your pile lol
