It’s been really cool watching our community lean into books and literacy the way it has.

What some people are discovering now is something a lot of us have believed for years: books bring people together.

I’m especially thankful for the people who supported Birdcage Ink from the beginning. The ones who invited us out, shared our posts, brought their kids, bought books, and believed that literacy deserved a bigger presence in our community.

You helped build something long before it was popular.

And that support is something I’ll never take for granted. We did this together, because I couldn’t of done it without you.❤️📚

Like we have been saying over here at Birdcage Ink, these services are in high demand in our community . 🗣️

Kern County is being encouraged to expand bookmobile and bilingual literacy services, and Birdcage Ink has already been doing that work on the ground.

But the conversation is bigger than just access, and it is not about just giving out books.

It is about HOW and WHY.

HOW do we get people to engage with the books once they have them.

WHY does reading matter enough in their everyday lives that they actually want to open them.

That is the part that builds readers, not just book ownership.

It is not about who distributes the most books. It is about what happens after the books are in their hands.

That is the work we focus on every single day in our communities.

And we are just getting started.

Literacy is not a system.

It is a relationship.

Ok so liiiiiiisten the first one I did definitely taught me some patience. But then I was addicted they are so cute it easily became a fave hobby for me and my daughter. For all our sticker book lovers, puzzlers, coloring book readers this is definitely one you’ll want to check out. We added minis to the shop :) The best part about the minis they fit perfect in your purse for a nice little screen free activity for you or the littles. I promise at birdcage we KNOW there’s a book for everyone 📚

Now we’re in the limelight cause we rhyme tight! 📚 In case you didn’t know Birdcage Ink is mostly definitely a family business. Had to show my littles what dream chasin looks like. & they were a heavy part of the everyday lifting it takes to run a mobile bookstore. This is what supporting local looks like. Our wheels are turning we’re back in motion. Fresh inventory & we’re bringing out our Birdcageink personality our groovy & whimsy is coming to an event near you! 📚
