Happy Juneteenth! 🎉 This federal holiday commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It’s celebrated every year on the 19th of June, first recognized by the state of Texas in 1865.

This day is known as “Juneteenth,” a verbal shorthand for June 19. It is also known as “Freedom Day,” “Juneteenth National Independence Day,” or “Emancipation Day.”

Hello, hello!
A preview of the face creams coming to .13 tomorrow: the green jar is a heavier hyaluronic acid/kojic acid formula, and the white jar is a lighter mandelic acid cream.

The hyaluronic acid/kojic acid cream is great when your skin needs a little extra hydration (hyaluronic acid) and for help with dark spots and hyperpigmentation (kojic acid). Mango butter, olive squalane, and pomegranate and argan oils make this a heavier, super-hydrating cream that locks in whatever moisture you put on your skin beforehand. A little of this cream goes a long way, and each jar contains 1.1 oz of cream.

The mandelic acid cream is my personal favorite. I stopped using it for a while because a friend had great results from a retinol cream; I tried the same cream and it was too harsh for me. Mandelic acid is a mild chemical exfoliant that helps with uneven skin tone, fine lines, and mild acne, and this cream gets its hydrating, soothing power from rose water, glycerin, honeyquat (a water-soluble conditioning ingredient derived from honey), shea butter, jojoba oil, and olive squalane. It’s so mild, I use it every night.

All of the ingredients I use in my face products are noncomedogenic and fragrance-free, but keep your own skin’s sensitivities in mind when trying any products.

These creams will be on the shelf at .13 tomorrow, along with a tester jar of each for customers to smell and sample from.

Happy Thursday/Friday from .13 !
I’m thinking of bringing in some jars of my mandelic acid face cream. I’ll post more info about it soon.
All I’ll say for now is that I tried a store-bought retinoid face cream because it had good ratings, but it was too harsh on my skin. And I mean, I gave it 6 weeks. I went back to my own cream, which contains mandelic acid, and my skin is much happier and doesn’t look rough (like it did with the retinol cream).
It turns out that mandelic acid can be much better for sensitive skin than retinol. As someone with acne (ever since puberty; I’m at a big age now, and I still deal with the threat of breakouts) and oilier skin, I was raised to think that made my skin more tough, but that’s not the case.
I also have rosacea, which wasn’t accurately diagnosed until about 10 years ago. Doctors skipped by that possibility because it’s more difficult to see on darker skin. So I have to be really careful with what I use.
I’ll be posting more about the mandelic acid face cream soon.
Have a good weekend, everyone!

Cobbler follow-up!

First of all, I’m so glad I had a cherry pitter. I may not use it often, but it really came in handy! I sliced the cherries and blackberries in half. Quartering them would have turned them into mince.

The cobbler is a hit! I had Bisquick in the pantry, so instead of making a dough from scratch, I just used that.
I could have added more sugar, but I’d already had plenty. The taste of the berries comes through.

I had a piece with some vanilla bean ice cream last night.
This morning, we had some for breakfast. It goes well with coffee.

And she bakes, too?!?!
Hell yeah! I don’t do it very often because I’d just be giving goodies away. I tend to cook and bake like I’m feeding a large family. I am not feeding a large family. It’s just the 2 of us.

I got these peaches from the on Thursday, and we’ve been so busy that no one’s eaten any of them.
Soooo…I’m making a cobbler!

Since I only got 3 peaches and they’re on the small side, I’m adding some blackberries and cherries, so this will be a mixed fruit cobbler.
I’m going to cut, mix, and macerate the fruit with a little sugar before I mix everything up so they soften and the flavors and textures get a chance to mingle.
I’ll come back when it’s all done.
Have a good Saturday đź–¤

Happy Thursday from the !

This will be my last month here at the market. I *am* considering downsizing to a smaller shelf here and just selling a smaller selection of products.

I’m going to make another post asking which products people would like to have available here, so if you shop at the market and follow my posts, please chime in and let me know!
