When we post about not dumping items in front of the shop while we're closed, we're not trying to be rude or act like we're not grateful for your items. Your generosity helps keep our shelves stocked of incredible things and our mission going strong.

We just get frustrated because as you can see in these photos, we are overrun with donations right now. PCS season is our best season, and we are fortunate that our community donates to us! We are forever grateful you come to us with your items, and we cannot thank those that donate enough for letting us be the place you trust with your items.

We just simply don't have the hands right now to sort through items as fast as we could in past months, due to volunteers PCSING.

If you have the time and energy to spare, please consider volunteering with us this summer. Volunteers 13 and older can come join us for 1 hour, 2 hours, or all day. Sign up for a slot here: https://volunteersignup.org/LADJH

Take your lunch break early, and come shop with us tomorrow from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm. We will be accepting donations until 1 pm, unless we are overwhelmed again.

Our sales will be Summer Bag Sale and 50% off kitchen and Home Goods including wall decor.

We are looking for volunteers to help us during these crazy days of donations due to PCS season.

Real talk, everyone: We can only take donations when we are OPEN.
When we pull up and see piles at the door, it’s a major safety hazard. Nobody wants to play "dodge the spiders and lizards" when picking up boxes.
We are already understaffed and low on volunteers. Dumping items outside isn't just tough on our team; it makes the base look messy.
If this keeps happening, we will be forced to close all donations until the end of summer. We just don't have the manpower.
End of rant... for now. Thank you to everyone who helps us out by donating during regular hours!

A Friendly (But Very Direct) Plea: Please Stop the After-Hours Donation Drop-Offs!
Dear Beale Community,
We love your donations. We truly, deeply do! Your generosity keeps our shop going and helps support so many amazing programs on base. But we need to have a quick, honest chat about what’s happening on our porch when the lights go out.
With PCS season upon us, we have been getting inundated with donations already. Walking up and finding items outside that have been left for who knows how long is frustrating and quite frankly, disrespectful.

When items are left out overnight or over the weekend, a few sad things happen:
The Elements Win: Morning dew, unexpected rain, and wind quickly turn perfectly good clothes and furniture into soggy, unsalvageable debris.
It Attracts "Critters": Local wildlife gets very curious about mystery boxes, which we definitely don't want.
Base Pride: Leftover boxes and bags quickly blow around, making our beautiful base look cluttered and messy.
By the time our team arrives, those wonderful items you meant to donate have often been ruined, and we end up having to haul them straight to the dumpster. It breaks our hearts to throw away things that could have found a second home!
How you can help us keep Beale beautiful:
Check the Clock: Please only bring donations during our official open hours. If the doors are locked, please keep your items safely in your trunk until next time.

We want to keep our shop—and our base—looking clean, welcoming, and organized. Thank you so much for understanding, respecting our hours, and helping us take care of the space we all share!

Volunteers are the very heart and soul at The Beale Thrift Shop. Without volunteers we cannot stay open, (like this past Saturday), and we can't sort through all the donations we receive on days we're open.

If you have any time to give, we could use you this summer and beyond. Volunteers must be 13+, but children are welcome to accompany their parents.
