Sometimes, it’s just thrifted clothes that are the treasures. You know you’ve chosen well when the clerk & the person behind you in line says,”Ohhh. I’d have gotten this or that if I’d seen it.” I know that feeling. Thrifting is all the emotions but the best is the “no regrets” feeling. I’d rather get it & give it away later than to re-play all the what-ifs & whys of not going with my gut. And that right there, sisters, is the story of my life. 😎🦩🙋‍♀️

It’s a “muggy” day. 😎 I’m excited to show you my latest thrifted treasures. I have more but half are in the wash & the other half are in the sink! 😊 I’ve been so busy & it’s going to be like this from now ‘til January. So many stories to write, so many projects to finish, so much on the to-do list. I look forward to sharing stuff with you like one looks forward to sitting down at the kitchen table catching up with an old friend. Thanks for being here even when I can’t pop in every day. Retirement is looming & then we’ll see sooo much of each other! 😎🙋‍♀️❤️🦩

I had two perfect little future Thrifted Sisters stay with me last weekend. I used to have their mother at my house when she was young. It all came full circle. The thrift closet got raided with magnificent hats, sparkly dresses to parade around in—& the new star still had time to hug her baby sister who was too busy throwing tea cups to be bothered with blooms & baubles. The photo shoots went on & on & so did my delight at watching all this stuff bring such fun to a whole new generation. ❤️

I’m not sure if this is meant for an adult or a child or if it even matters but I just got this thrifted pink velvet, hooded cape. Inside tags say the original price was $55 & that this is “Fairy Finery.” So this will be a gift for Miss Peppery, the Divine Miss Em—our precious Emma Grace except if the need would ever happen to arise, maybe Granny could borrow it for an outrageous outfit? Or two? 😎🤣🦩 We’ll see how it washes up first. I see some creative, imagination activities ahead especially when Em sets up her ottoman stage to present her next concert. I’ll keep you posted on event dates. 😎❤️🦩

My girls said my new fuzzy cotton candy wrap looks like Zsa Zsa Gabor. My other daughter said I look like a human version of a pink flamingo. I think this is actually part of a costume but no matter—it’s mine now & I’m having fun with it! Kinda matched my pink popsicle & ice cream cone shirt I wore yesterday. I went thrifting after work last night—barely made it before they closed. I just felt so strongly that I needed to go. I did not know I “needed” this pink thing but we discovered each other. 😎 I did, however, get two pairs of pants, a sweater, & a shirt that will be just right for fall. I have to have working girl clothes for the daily newspaper life, but business clothes for some stories & then fancier clothes when I cover special events. Then I have to have perky, pretty clothes to wear at the shop. Quite a range—& outfits for each season. This is what I tell myself anyway when my closet overflows & I thrift for brown suede pants & a houndstooth sweater. There is no plausible justification for the pink flamingo shawl other than the squeal I let out when I scooped it up & how I pranced around the house in it. 🌸🦩😎

The windy days of March & the April showers—isn’t this such a timeless design? I got 4 mugs & the cream & sugar dish to match at an auction last weekend. I’m already itching to go again. I can’t ever imagine not being transported by these memories—will young people ever share this emotion for old stuff? I know Miss Em does! ❤️🦩😻

It’s me in my pink flamingo dress my daughter & granddaughter convinced me to get! I also wore my thrifted white shrug sweater today on a day off from the newspaper—I’m covering the shop for Hubs. Have a happy day, sisters, in whatever ways gives you comfort & joy! 🤩 🦩🎸❤️
