I love to snap a pic in the quiet of the morning at the school house before the shoppers arrive.
I imagine myself, a school marm, prepping for the day and enjoying the quiet before the kids arrive.
Build a crackling fire in the wood stove, pump some water from the well, a quick trip to the outhouse....I hope she savored the solitude and the view before she started her day!
Because of the generosity of many, many people, we raised $958 for the school house maintenance. Thank you to vendors, customers, raffle items and 2 generous donations.
In gratitude and in honor and memory of those before us, thank you!

The maker of the hippos, sheep and elephant is Suzanne Ammirati from Bozeman. She works at Dynojet in Belgrade and is on facebook.
She donated the sheep for the raffle and will take orders for any of them!

I have a conundrum.
If you paid for your $35 in merchandise Saturday with a card ending in 8616, would you please message me? After about 11:30, all of our card sales were off-line. I'm not sure where you bank, but they're good! They wouldn't accept the transaction when I logged on. Square will not give me any customer information whatsoever. So, if you don't mind checking, I'd be extremely grateful.

Well, the last two days just flew by. I had every intention of posting lots of photos to entice you all, but time wasn't on my side.
We had 2 raffle items donated by Shannon Forsythe from Belgrade. A handmade quilt and a crocheted hippo made with local wool. Tickets were a dollar ea. 100% of the proceeds goes to the school preservation from these two things. Thank you, Shannon!
Sweet little Piper came at the end of the day and drew names. Chris Derham from Friendly Flower won the sheep. She was at the school packing up her wares. Sheila Kellogg won the quilt! So fun!
Thank you everyone who participated!

Here's a little background on this show and sale. I don't recall exactly how many years Jacy and I have been putting this show together, but at least 20, I'd say. We threw it together in 2 weeks back then. This was back before the Winter Farmer's Market was organized too. Many makers and growers were suddenly faced with no selling venue when the summer market ended. Jacy and Matt had been growing produce here on our property and so, the rest is history. We called some others and put together a show and sale.
Over the years it completely morphed into something really big, almost too big. Several suggested we move the location, but Christmas in the Country just wouldn't be the same somewhere else, especially in town. Back then we were one of a handful of shows. Now there are many, many more.
With one of our last shows seeing lines to get in and shoulder-to-shoulder shoppers, Christmas in the Country was bursting at the seams. Then Covid. It allowed us time to reflect and perhaps reinvent.
We scaled back and simplified. Fewer vendors and just a one-day sale. This allowed us to basically curate the show into the things that touch our hearts and our sense of purpose. Reduce, reuse, recycle and natural things that have a lesser impact on life in general are what we had always strived for. A chance to get back to our roots.
You will not find mass-produced items or things made in China. That's not what this show is about. It's about time and love and care put into each item here. And in the end helping support a piece of Dry Creek history, our little one-room school. This year 10% of all sales will go directly to the maintenance and upkeep of the school. We also have been given a quilt to raffle and a super cute Granny square hippo crocheted from local wool. Stay tuned for more on those!!
