I haven’t posted too much lately, as there hasn’t been too much to post. After A couple of Derbies Big fish Brendan, good friend Mark, and I had a Great day on the water winning the Bemidji State War on the Shore! A Week later shared the Boat with another good Friend Pete for a fun day finishing up in 32nd for the Knights of Columbus Walleye classic! Then the following weekend the Big Storm Hit On June 22nd i took a tumble, I fell about 15’ off a ladder 🪜 right to the concrete.
I cracked a vertebrae, suffered a severe concussion, and hurt my foot. Fast forward 7.5 weeks to
Today. I had surgery on my foot to repair, and screw back together my Navicular Bone.
The journey to this point has been like a HORROR story. That day in the ER they did CT scans to my Head and back area, they also took XRays off my foot. I was to the ER two more times that week due too lots of vomiting. Guess they said it was due to concussion. It got to a point where I was vomiting Black along with black stools so they determined I had internal bleeding. A Week later at my follow up appointment I told the Dr my foot still hurt pretty bad, he suggested we do a CT scan, I told him I would rather not as I had been Lit up by 3 ct scans throughout the week I suggested we give it a week. He looked over my cracked vertebrae X-rays, and explained how it should heal on its own. He then examined my stitches in my head, and stated they looked really good and were ready to come out. I was a little shocked, but he got them all taken out. I told him we would be in touch on the foot. That evening while I lay in bed, I felt something wet and of course it was blood so I put a rag on it and after a couple of days I called and my doctor however his schedule was full, so I saw a different Doctor, who deemed it could not be restitched and to put bandages over it and some ointment. The bleeding finally stopped about three weeks later. That following Monday, my foot hadn’t gotten any better so I called the doctor to get the CT scan, and was informed my doctor was on vacation till the end of the month and dint see anything in his notes, but they got me an appointment with a new doctor. I met with him, and he figured to just order a regular x-ray and it was probably fractured. He warned me that radiology was a little behind, and it would Probably take a couple days. 12 days later I got a message on my chart saying I had new test results. The foot Indeed was fractured and the doctor suggested I get into podiatry, I had made an appointment with them the day I did x-rays, however that appointment wasn’t for a few weeks. I called podiatry and they were able to move me up a week, but that was still 10 days out. They told me not to put any weight on the foot and to try to put on a mobilization boot, along with crutches at the time I was in Minneapolis. When I got home I put a boot on, and tried to use the crutches, however that put a lot of pressure on that cracked vertebrae so that wasn’t an option. I finally met with the podiatrist. He pulled up my x-rays, had two side-by-side. The one on the left was the original x-ray from the day in the ER, and the one on the right was the one from 22 days ago the x-rays looked very similar. The fractures were very noticeable in both pictures. I asked him how could they have missed the first x-ray? He said he wasn’t sure. He told me his plan, and after surgery I would be off it completely for 6 weeks.
I had been basically in bed for two weeks, the next four were pretty shaky so at this point I was at six weeks frustrated was a understatement. If you haven’t seen me lately on Truck, or on the Water this is why. Guessing It will be that long again before I will be 🚛 🎣 🚤 🎣(Sorry for the long read)
