Hello everybody! 👋
Has it really been almost 4 months since I said hello? 💔
It turns out that moving as a chronically ill person is HARD. And when my fatigue and illnesses flare up, the non-essentials tend to fall to the wayside, and that includes this little page. 😔
I’m sorry I’ve been AWOL. I’m hoping to muster the energy to at least be a little more active on here and share what I’m up to.
So here’s a little update, with a question at the end that I’d *love* if you answered! 🥰🥰
🏡 We moved into our new house in late March. The move went smoothly and unpacking was successful (except for the garage - it’s still a little messy 😜).
🔪 I’m preparing for a surgery in August with a specialist about 3.5 hours from home, and another potential big surgery in the late fall.
🌱 I started a little raised-bed vegetable and flower garden in the backyard. This has been very healing and cathartic. As my health has declined I’ve lost a lot of my ability to “provide” for my family like I did in the past. Bringing in my small little harvests, and sharing the simple joy of gardening with my 3 littles, has been so healing in its own little way as I contribute these little works of my hands. 💚 I can only spend a little bit of time working in the garden before I’m worn out, but I’ve found if I spend just a few minutes each day when it’s cooler, it’s (mostly) manageable. 🥰
🧶 I’ve been knitting dish clothes off-and-on when I’ve been feeling up to it. I have a few new ones to add to the albums in the next week or two, once I have a bit more energy to photograph and upload them. 😉
🎨 My paint desk is assembled and I’ve got some fun ideas for paintings, but haven’t had the energy to paint recently. 😢 Plus, my little bit of energy has been going to other projects like … ⬇️
🪡 I participated in Sisters Quilt Week (a big gathering of quilters every year in Sisters, Oregon) with my great-aunt and my mom. I’m making a bed quilt for my daughter (ssshhh - it’s a surprise! 🤫), so I’ve set up a little sewing table in our office. I’m using my grandmother’s old Singer sewing machine. It’s a little war horse and still going strong! So far I’ve completed 6 of 48 blocks to piece for the top. It’s a slow process but I’m hoping to have the quilt all done by Christmas. 🎄
❓ I’ve been greatly enjoying sewing and I’m debating adding some sewed goods to my little album lineup. Like seasonal wall hangings and table runners. What do you think? Is that something you think people would be interested in? 🤔
It’s good to be back! I’ve missed this little community, and I hope you’ve all been doing well and are enjoying your summer! ☀️
Talk to you soon! 🤍
