PICS FOR 🌟 PART 13: MOFFAT LADD HOUSE / PORTSMOUTH NH

Welcome to my ever so slightly satirical and sarcastic history series I'm calling "I Do Fun Things in New England So You Don't Have To" 🎉

😍 If you've hung out in Portsmouth a few times, you've probably passed by this beautiful blue home. They said it is a Georgian style home but I struggle to see how as it lacks symmetry and the windows in the third floor are smaller than the first two floors. But, I digress.

🤔 However, while the home is one of Portsmouth's most talked about because the architecture and design is beautifully done, this home has a dark history that the current company of owners seem to not like to highlight or be transparent about.

🤯 Not only were the original home's owner slave owners, they were active participants in the slave trade. Which is how the entire history of this home essentially even starts. This home and family have a very ugly history and yet their history and "good name" don't need to be protected. The slaves who helped build and run this home should be highlighted not suppressed to romanticize a white washed version of history. So sorry if you've come to mys series for that type of history lesson. That's not what I'm here for. If you can't visit a house and learn about it's real history, you're not there for the history, you're there to look at a pretty home. And that doesn't seem fair given the purpose of the home is to share its history through a historic home museum. So learn to sit with the uncomfortable aspects and enjoy the beautiful architecture simultaneously. And appreciation for both goes a long way.

🙊 Am I the A**hole??

🪶A new series I'm calling "Reddit Stories with A Colonial Man".

🤔 Now that we've established the dynamics between myself and currently unnamed Colonial Man, subsequent parts will have actual Reddit stories.

🤭 Whether those stories are real stories from reddit or actual tea from the colonial days, well you'll just have to watch and find out. I'm sure the themes won't be dead giveaways 🤣

👀 I'm sure unnamed Colonial Man will have some hot takes on the stories. Can wait to see what type of bu****it he's on or if he will end up learning and growing from this. He is a land owning white man from the 1700s so we will set our expectations low but damn I'm sure we will enjoy the ride.
