1883 Liberty Head Nickel ‘No CENTS’ PCGS MS64

“Quit Joshin’ Me!” 🤔👇🏼
Did you know? During their first year of mintage in 1883, Liberty Head Nickels did not show the word “CENTS”, only a Roman numeral V.
Many tricksters including the famous Boston area con-artist Josh Tatum would gold plate these 5 cent coins, and pass them off as $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagles 🦅
This became so frequent the design of the coin was changed by the U.S. Mint to include “5 Cents” on later issues, and terms like “don’t Josh me”, or “quit Joshin’ me” became a part of Pop-culture 😲🍿🎶
