Everybody likes the sound of jobs, growth, and big investment. But when a data center doesn’t sleep, doesn’t take weekends off, and needs power 24/7, somebody has to ask the questions regular folks care about:

Will it help the community?
Will it stress the grid?
Will it affect our light bills?
And who exactly is reading all that fine print?

Boudreaux sees the load.
Thibodaux sees the contract.
T-Ray sees his electric bill and starts sweating.

As Thibodaux says:

Did you know that after a hurricane or major storm, getting the power back on is only part of the job?

For towns, utilities, and co-ops, there’s another storm waiting after the lights come back on: paperwork. 🌪️📄

If the crew replaced a pole, rented equipment, bought materials, worked overtime, or took damage photos, it all has to be documented the right way. Because when it comes time to ask FEMA for reimbursement…

If it ain’t logged, FEMA ain’t paying, cher.

Boudreaux thought restoring power was the hard part. Thibodaux had to explain that missing receipts, random photo names, and undocumented work can cost real money after the storm.

Ever open your light bill and feel like somebody mailed you a regulatory novel? ⚡📚

Episode 005 of *Da Cajun Grid* is live: **“What All Dis On My Light Bill, Cher?”**

This one follows Boudreaux and Thibodaux through the sacred mysteries of electric bills: inclining-block energy charges, fuel riders, storm restoration charges, storm restoration credits, grid resilience fees, and that one little pole light charge hiding at the bottom like it ain’t done nothing wrong.

Somewhere between “why da rate go up when I use more power?” and “how can the same hurricane have both a charge and a credit?” we end up in full-blown regulatory archaeology.

Boudreaux brings the radar trace to Thibodaux’s office expecting a UFO investigation.

Thibodaux finds the real problem:

That 60-second pull may have set BP&L’s peak demand for the entire month…

…and now somebody owes a $180,000 demand charge. ⚡🛸🤣
