Thank you everyone for a wonderful Grand Opening Day! I appreciate all of your support and well wishes. We will be open tomorrow from 10am until 5pm and on Monday our hours will be slightly different than our normal Monday hours as I will be attending the Memorial Day event at the middle school.

Children read to daily hear 296,000 words by age five versus 4,600 for never-read children. This million-word gap forms before kindergarten even starts. Every bedtime story, every quick book during breakfast, every silly voice you make reading picture books is literally building your child's language foundation word by word. What feels like simple cuddle time is actually creating massive developmental advantages that compound over years.

Research shows children who hear just one book daily accumulate nearly 300,000 words from books alone by their fifth birthday. Those read five books daily reach over 1.4 million words. Meanwhile, children rarely read to hear fewer than 5,000 words from books in those same critical years. These early word differences translate directly into significantly larger vocabularies and stronger language skills when children start school.

You do not need perfect reading sessions or expensive books. Consistency matters more than perfection. Those ten minutes before bed, the book you read three times in a row because they love it, the stories during car rides all count toward building their word bank.
