Kedusha (holiness) is a vast, complex, and mystical tenet in Judaism. But, what makes something kadosh (holy) in our tradition? By focusing on k’lei kedusha (holy objects), AKA Judaica, we will explore what is at stake in Jewish aesthetic, ethics, and adornment practices. We will take an explicitly q***r approach to our studies, reading Midrash Shemot Rabba (how the sacred vessels of the Mishkan were created), in conversation with contemporary q***r theory, q***r Judaica, and zine culture as additional source texts. Learners of all Hebrew language knowledge levels welcome as well as misfits of all genders and sexual orientations!

As the world continues to break open, 💔
we continue to need spiritual sustenance, 💗
Pushcart is here to meet that need head on:

3 years of creating + sourcing + distributing Judaica
busting open the doors of our tradition
in congress,
on the street,
in our synagogues,
with our prayers
for the sake of liberation.

🎯 Year three showed me that
fighting fascism requires pacing and endurance,
discipline and hope,
personal grounding and deep connection.
Our people are weary AF and need nourishment.
Creativity as prayer practice keeps us going. 🏹

Our study will focus on Judaica production as a lens through which to explore Jewish aesthetic, ethics, and adornment practices. We will take an explicitly q***r approach to our studies, pulling from q***r theory, q***r fashion, and zine culture as source texts. Using the pedagogy of chavrutah (traditional Jewish text study), creative practice, and our own embodiment we will travel from Tim Tum to Rambam, Muñoz to Maimonides, Tiktok to Talmud and back again. Our time together is intended for people of all Hebrew language knowledge levels, from no literacy to fluency. Misfits of all genders and sexual orientations are welcome ;)
