I was waiting until I had the right story to share but I’ve been drawing a blank so here it is: a WIP that’s *almost* as old as I am and I have PROOF! My mom started this project when I was in 3rd grade! Yes, 3rd grade, and I even remembered the outfit she made me for school photos (see 2nd image) with said fabrics. She thought it funny to send it to me to be quilted. ☺️ She did admit to having trouble remembering the piecing plan though. This only proves you shouldn’t let your WIPs become 34-ish years old… 🤣🤣🤣🫣🫣🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

From a random box of precut squares in varying sizes, wild yardage colors, and an indecipherable plan made by another party, I dove in, salvaged, and created some pieces to be cherished. The recipient of these quilts and pillow is over-the-moon excited that the project someone started for her 2 years ago, and then abandoned, has been reimagined for her to now snuggle and properly grieve. These are her now-deceased husband’s shirts and shorts. Only happy tears and quilted hugs, now! 🥰

What an eclectic mix of materials I was sent for this memory quilt project, even the black and turquoise solids in yardage form were included! I actually get to make some pillow shams and another smaller quilt, but let’s celebrate them one at a time as they are made.
