LASAS FFA Chapter

This past week, our students attended the 97th Louisiana FFA Convention and Expo💙💛 Our members competed in multiple contests and brought home numerous banners including:

⭐️Jr. Proficiency: Fruit and Nut Production-1st Place-Abigail Rabalais
⭐️Proficiency Award: Ag Processing-Fourth Place-Katie Guillory
⭐️Proficiency Award: Goat Production-3rd Place-Jacques Dauzat
⭐️Agriscience Fair-1st Place-Katie Guillory
⭐️Food Science-4th Place-Miley Tigner, Giselle Drummer, Maddison Ducote, and Alyssa Benjamin
⭐️Conduct of Chapter-4th Place-Kaylee Ryan, Lucas Guillory, Alyce Dyer, Hadleigh Jeansonne, Taylor Reynolds, Abby Tassin, Elise Lemoine

Katie Guillory and Demarcus Thomas also received their FFA State Degree for their dedication and hard work in the FFA, which is the highest achievement that can be given by Louisiana FFA!

Our advisors and chapter would like to congratulate everyone who participated and competed. What a great start to our summer break!

Over the past several weeks Mr. Ward’s ag classes worked to restore a 1957 John Deere 320 tractor. Students were involved in the process doing everything from welding, sanding, painting, mechanic, hydraulic, and electrical work. Pictured are just a few of the students that were involved. The tractor will be put to good use in our school’s garden and around the shop.

Today we celebrated the accomplishments and hard work of all our FFA members who competed in our LDE/CDE competitions this past school year with a traditional Avoyelles Parish cochon de lait lunch. Along with the main course students also enjoyed rice dressing and cowboy beans. Those early birds that helped Mr. Ward and Mr. Moreau get the pig started this morning at 4:00 a.m. also enjoyed a breakfast of biscuits and sausage. It was a wonderful way to end the week and take us into the Easter break. Thanks to all our members who worked so hard this year studying and practicing for their respective competitions
