Mr and Mrs Fret Collector took a bit of a road trip to buy some guitars for the shop and spent some time hanging outside 924 Gilman where "Green Day", Operation Ivy, AFI, and The Offspring played their early shows and the house where Lars and James lived in the early 80's. We wanted to see more stuff in the Bay area but the traffic just did not cooperate. Had big dreams of going to the Metallica and Mesa Boogie HQ's on the north end but most likely would have taken several days to get there considering it took several hours just to get through Berkley, Oakland, and San Jose. Ugh.

I was going to do a good-n-proper unboxing video, like the kids on YouTube like to do, but figured none of you need to hear me swearing about all the extra tape, weazing 'cause I'm outa shape, and sweating because I'm, well, outa shape.

Here is one of the seven guitars all opened up and ready to go to the setup table. She's perty. Another fine example of incredible Japanese vintage guitars. This one is an Edwards Limited Model.

Time for an Ol' Fret Collector update. One of our focuses for instruments are unique Japanes treasures that are not readily available here in the U.S. I currently have 12 guitars on their way from Japan. Fun guitars like a clear lucite similar to Dan Armstrong, Ace Frehley-Paul Stanley-Gene Simmons models, 1976-1982 Tokais. So many fun guitars coming!!!

1. One made it here with absolutely no problems, no customs questions, and no extra fees.
2. Customs flagged one and charged me a tariff fee.
3. Eight of them are sitting in customs right now while I fill out paperwork on what types of wood they are made of.
4. One is still in Japan waiting to be shipped because they are in the middle of their summer holiday season.

All I want is to get them here so I can share them with you. So excited to see them all.

Question: how do you feel about old Japanes guitars? Fret Collector LOVES them!!! You know these are the same brands/factories that built your Fender and Epiphone guitars. Personally I love them because you can get an incredible price on a quality, 50-year-old, vintage guitar made from old growth wood for a fraction of an "American-made" guitar.
