It's important to use appropriate visuals that align with your target audience and the message of the sales page.

For example, if the product is targeted towards children, it would be appropriate to use bright colours and cartoonish images.

If the product is targeted towards a professional audience, it would be appropriate to use images that are more sleek and sophisticated.

If you work (mostly) with women, you may pick softer colours and images of women.

All of these considerations are part of your visual brand and will contribute to how enticing your overall marketing message is.

We looked at some of the basic requirements for a good CTA:
1️⃣ Concise
2️⃣ Compelling
3️⃣ Urgent
Now, you might be wondering how that translates into actual words.

Let's say you want people to book a discovery call about your service. You can add this CTA:

I've added 20 slots for FREE strategy calls, book now before they fill up!

This CTA is simple, and appealing because the client will get 30 minutes of access to your brain (rather than just being sold to for 30 minutes), and there is a sense of urgency because there are only 20 slots available.

Of course, this does mean that you can only have 20 slots available for booking. If a prospective client clicks on the link and sees 100 slots available, they will feel lied to and manipulated, which will immediately break trust.

How about persuading your prospects to buy? Here's an idea:

Two common mistakes that people make around CTAs (Calls to Action) in their sales copy.

Either they assume people will naturally understand what is expected of them and do not add a CTA at all.

Or they want to make sure they cater to every single person and add 10 different CTAs with options on how to move forward.

Both are very confusing and will not help your followers become customers!

Here are some things to keep in mind:

👉 A CTA should be concise, meaning that it should be brief and to the point.

A long and complicated CTA can make it difficult for visitors to understand what they are supposed to do next, and it can be overwhelming. A simple and concise CTA can be more effective at encouraging visitors to take action.

👉 A CTA should be compelling, meaning that it should be persuasive and motivating.

The CTA should be designed to appeal to the visitor's emotions, and it should make them want to take the desired action. This can be achieved by using persuasive language and highlighting the benefits of taking the desired action.

👉 Include a sense of urgency to encourage visitors to act now.

This can be achieved by using language that implies time sensitivity, limited availability or by highlighting how soon your clients experience the first results of your service or products. This can help to increase the chances of visitors taking the desired action now, rather than putting it off for later.

A call to action (CTA) is an instruction or a prompt to the audience to take a specific action.

It's an important part of any marketing or sales message and it's designed to encourage visitors to take the next step. Whether it's to make a purchase, sign up for a free trial, or request more information. The CTA should be clear, concise, and compelling, and it should be prominently displayed on the sales page.

The call to action should be clear, meaning that it should be easy to understand and specific. The visitor should know exactly what they are supposed to do next, whether it's to make a purchase or sign up for a free trial. A clear CTA can help to increase the chances of visitors taking the desired action, whereas an over-complicated one can cause a prospect to give up and close your website without buying.

I have already shared a fair amount of Mags' wisdom (FEM & House of Hives) about testimonials with you this week. We discussed questions you can ask, and client avatars to consider. So, what else is important to consider? Let's ask the expert!

>> Testimonial or Programme Evaluation?
One mistake I see a lot of people make when asking for a testimonial is that it is included in an evaluation form. Sending your client 20 questions about their experience is overwhelming and will not actually get you better information. An evaluation and a testimonial are not the same things, so make sure to separate the requests and questions.

>> Highlight your USP
Consider what makes your product different from others and try to let the testimonials show that off. This goes for all your messaging, including your testimonials, if the text wouldn't seem out of place on the website of a competitor, it is too generic and doesn't speak to your USP (we explored all about USPs a few weeks ago).

>> Ask specific questions
When asking for testimonials, provide specific questions. "What was it like to work with me?" or "What did you gain from my programme?" are broad questions that will probably get you pretty generic answers. However, asking when they realised they made the right choice to buy from you or what was an unexpected outcome? That will get you specific answers.

Before you can write good copy, it’s important to understand who you are writing it for. The same is true for testimonials.

You want the reader to feel "people like me bought this service" or "people I aspire to be like appreciated this product."

So when deciding which testimonials to include on your sales page, revisit your client avatars. Who are your ideal clients?

Here are some ideas to consider.

Do you work with men and women? Be sure to include testimonials from both.

Do you work with people in a variety of sectors? Make sure you have a few represented.

Do you work with corporates and third-sector organisations? You already know what I am going to say.
