Sequoyah, a remarkable figure in Cherokee history, developed the Cherokee writing system in the early 19th century. Born in the 1770s, Sequoyah was initially illiterate in any language but was inspired to create a writing system for his people after seeing the utility of written communication among European settlers. Remarkably, despite having no prior experience with written language, Sequoyah invented a syllabary, a set of written symbols that represent syllables, each of which corresponds to a part of the Cherokee language. His dedication paid off in 1821 when he introduced the completed syllabary to the Cherokee Nation. The impact of Sequoyah's invention was profound and swift. Within just 25 years, nearly all Cherokee people had become literate in their new writing system, a feat unparalleled in the history of written language development. Sequoyah's syllabary not only facilitated widespread literacy among the Cherokee but also inspired the creation of writing systems for other indigenous languages worldwide. His work ensured the preservation and proliferation of the Cherokee language and culture, demonstrating the power of literacy and written communication in empowering and unifying a community.

Winnetou 2 (1964), directed by Harald Reinl, is the second installment in the beloved German Western film series based on Karl May’s novels. The film continues the story of Winnetou, the noble Apache chief, played by Pierre Brice, and his friendship with Old Shatterhand, portrayed by Lex Barker. The plot revolves around their efforts to broker peace between warring tribes and European settlers. The film’s breathtaking landscapes and heartfelt story emphasize themes of unity, trust, and cultural understanding.
The Winnetou series gained immense popularity in Europe for its romanticized portrayal of Native American life and adventure-filled narratives. Brice's portrayal of Winnetou became iconic, symbolizing nobility and bravery. While it faced criticism for historical inaccuracies, Winnetou 2 remains a cherished film, celebrated for its earnest storytelling and stunning cinematography.

People ask me if I believe in god... I tell them I pray to creator. They tell me Jesus died for me... I tell them my ancestors did.
They say I will burn in hell for not following the Bible, but yet it has been used as weapon to colonize and murder my people...
for me it’s spirituality over religion. I don’t hate people for going to church, but I do hate what the churches have done to us...
before colonization we had our own ways and ceremonies, I choose the path of my ancestors.
