Ya know, I think we’re made up of allllll the people who have touched our lives the ones who came and went, the ones who stayed, and especially the ones who continue to touch our everyday, mundane little days without even realizing it.
The Glimmer Patch is intentional.
Everything.
The prayers.
The seed pickin’.
The harvesting.
The arranging.
The art that comes together in each piece I make for you all.
It’s all intentional.
Obviously, the foundation of The Glimmer Patch was born in a season when I was changing my world and facing the demons I had been carrying. But honestly? The Glimmer Patch would’ve never been anything more than me growing flowers, spending all my money, and having a really pretty hobby 😂🌸
People -if you’re lucky -will believe in you before you even believe in yourself. They’ll push you in ways you never thought you needed pushed and encourage you when you don’t even realize you need it.
Aunt T was that person for me.
She saw the patch.
She saw me working in the flowers.
She experienced some of my very first arrangements -and y’all… she still believed in me. 😂 iykyk.
On her birthday, her last one, she hyped me up. She told me I should really start considering selling my flowers.
I never thought much about it.
Really.
At that time, I was simply trying to keep my mind busy and find something beautiful to hold onto while navigating the rough stages of getting sober.
Then, a couple of weeks later, we got the call that she had passed.
We never got to see her again.
Hear her voice.
Hug her.
Experience that beautiful smile.
And yet, somehow, she never really left the patch.
Through all of that, in September, I decided I was gonna go for it.
You heard that right. The almost-end of the season. 😂
I was going to start this wild little adventure.
I sold my very first bouquets…
and they sold.
Thanks, Mary Foster. 🩷
With a handwritten business card, no real plan, and nothing but the guidance of God, Aunt T, and a frog.
YAS. The frog. 🐸
(That’s another story.)
The Glimmer Patch was born.
And every time I pick a flower, make an arrangement, hand someone a bouquet, or watch this little patch continue to grow, I’m reminded that sometimes the people who believe in us leave pieces of themselves behind for us to carry forward.
Aunt T, I love you bunches.
I hope you know that you didn’t just inspire me.
You helped plant something that has gone on to inspire others, too.
And I think that’s one of the sweetest glimmers of all. 🩷💐🐸
