A real-life post for a minute. ❤️
We all know I struggle with anxiety and depression. I’m an open book about it, and I talk about it freely because I want other people to know they are NOT alone.
Well…today, I’m standing out here in my garage, and my mind is trying to kick my butt.
It’s telling me I’m not good enough for Hobnob. That the stuff I have isn’t cool enough. That nobody is going to like what I do. That maybe I don’t belong there.
And as I’m writing this, I’m almost in tears.
But I’m trying to remind myself of something:
I am good enough.
I know who I am. I know what I love. I know how hard I work. And I know who my mom raised me to be. She taught me well, and I’m going to keep reminding myself of that today.
And THIS, my friends, is real life with mental health struggles.
I didn’t take my anxiety/depression medicine for two or three days because I simply forgot. And that also meant I missed my OCD medication.
I’m not sharing this for sympathy. I’m sharing it because this is what it can look like. Sometimes it’s not obvious from the outside. Sometimes you’re standing in your garage surrounded by things you’ve worked your ass off for, and your own brain is telling you that you aren’t good enough.
Even when you KNOW that voice is lying.
So today, my battle isn’t cleaning this garage.
It isn’t getting everything priced.
It isn’t getting ready for Hobnob.
Today, my battle is with my own mind.
And I’m going to keep telling myself:
I am good enough.
What I do matters.
I belong here.
I don’t have to be perfect.
And I WILL do just fine.
If you’re having one of those days too, please know you aren’t alone. ❤️
And if you take medication for your mental health, take this as my little reminder to take your meds and take care of YOU. Sometimes the simplest things can make a bigger difference than we realize.
Today I’m choosing to believe myself instead of the ugly voice in my head.
Now…back to this damn garage. 😂❤️
