Only 0.5% of meteorites identified are of Martian origin. A Martian meteorite is a piece of Mars, our red-hued neighbor, that was ejected into space long ago and eventually fell to Earth. Hassi Messaoud 001 was a volcanic rock originally formed on Mars over a billion years ago and recovered from the Sahara Desert in 2020. Fragments of this rare meteorite are found in our Martian Lava Meteorite display. Limited quantities available:
