Appreciation matters—but good intentions don’t always translate into actions people can actually feel.

On August 27, I’m hosting The Business of Appreciation, a thoughtful, practical conversation about how we recognize the people who make our workplaces, organizations, and communities stronger.

If you care about people but want to become more intentional about showing it, I’d love to have you in the room.

Okay, I need your opinion on something! 👀

I’m considering adding personalized over-the-door hangers to the Yay! lineup. You could use one for a wreath, seasonal décor, a welcome sign—or anything else you’d like to display without putting a nail in the door.

But before I start creating samples, tell me:

Would you want yours designed for year-round use, or personalized specifically for the holidays?

And what would you want engraved on it? A family name, monogram, welcoming phrase, or something else?

Help me decide if these need to become a thing! 😊

Most people don't need more ideas. They need fewer decisions.

One of the biggest benefits of an Appreciation Planning Session isn't choosing gifts. It's removing the mental load.

Together, we'll identify:

the moments worth celebrating,
the people you never want to overlook,
a realistic budget,
and a plan you can actually stick to.

When appreciation is intentional, it stops feeling like one more task. It simply becomes part of how you lead.

If you'd like to head into the next season with a clear appreciation plan instead of another last-minute scramble, send me PLAN. I'd love to help you think it through.

Every organization I've met wants people to feel appreciated. Very few have a plan for making that happen consistently.

Culture isn't built during the annual holiday party. Or Employee Appreciation Day. It's built in ordinary weeks.

When appreciation depends on remembering, it becomes inconsistent.

When appreciation is planned, it becomes part of the culture.

That's true whether your team has five people or five hundred. Systems don't make appreciation less personal. They make sure it actually happens.

Ask yourself: If appreciation disappeared from your calendar tomorrow, would anyone notice?

We spend a lot of time trying to do bigger things. What if people simply need us to notice the smaller ones?

Someone stayed late.
Someone quietly solved a problem.
Someone welcomed the new employee.
Someone carried a heavier load without asking for recognition.

Those moments often pass without celebration—not because leaders don't care, but because they're busy.

Here's what I've learned. Recognition doesn't always require an award. Sometimes it sounds like: "I noticed what you did."

Those five words can change someone's entire week. The best cultures aren't built on grand gestures. They're built on leaders who pay attention. That's the real practice of appreciation.

Think of someone who deserves to hear, "I noticed what you did." Tell them today.

An appreciation planning session isn’t about paying someone to help you shop.

It’s about making thoughtful decisions before you’re rushed into expensive, last-minute ones.

Maybe you know you want to recognize your employees, thank your clients, or do something meaningful for the people who support your organization—but you’re not sure:

Who should be included?
Which moments matter most?
What is appropriate?
How much should you budget?
What can you realistically manage?

That’s where planning comes in.

Together, we identify the people and moments that matter, establish priorities based on your goals and budget, and determine what appreciation could look like for your organization.

You leave with clarity and a practical roadmap. Not a list of random gift ideas and not an obligation to purchase products from me.

Because the best appreciation doesn’t begin with the gift.

It begins with knowing what you want people to understand, remember, or feel.

If you’ve been meaning to "do something" but haven’t known where to begin, message me about an Appreciation Planning Session.

At Yay! Gifts and Cards, I approach promotional products the same way I approach appreciation:

Personal first. Promotional second.

The item should make sense for the person receiving it. The branding should feel intentional, not overpowering. And the whole experience should communicate, "We thought about you," not simply, "Here’s our logo."

The best promotional products don’t just create impressions. They create CONNECTION (yes, I'm yelling) and that’s what makes a brand worth remembering.

What’s one branded item you’ve received that you actually kept and used?
