There’s a special kind of magic in the Lowcountry air today that just makes me pause and feel so deeply grateful and remind me why we love this beautiful corner of the world so much 🙏🌿☀️

When I first started designing for Mayflower Design, I knew I wanted to create pieces that honored nature, not took away from it. I spent so much time researching materials because I was determined to find an alternative that was 100% cruelty-free, kind to the Earth, and built to last.

The moment I discovered Portuguese cork, everything clicked.
Cork isn’t just durable, water-resistant, and lightweight—it’s a true gift from nature. Harvesting cork oak bark doesn't harm the tree; in fact, it actually helps the trees absorb more carbon dioxide, making every piece a victory for our planet.

Every single bag starts as a sketch on my pad and comes to life right here in my studio. No mass production, no duplicates—just one-of-a-kind, slow-crafted art made straight from my heart for you to carry.

To my incredible community—especially those of you who return market after market and year after year—thank you. Happy Monday! 🌿 Stepping into a brand new week with a peek at some fresh bag designs heading to the studio workbench!

As the holiday season quickly approaches and local market calendars fill up, I’ve been reflecting on why I do what I do. Every piece I craft starts with a commitment to sustainable Portuguese cork and the slow, deliberate care of handmade goods. Pouring my heart and soul into every stitch is easy when I know where these pieces are going—to all of you.
To my incredible customers: thank you for continuing to support Mayflower Design, for bringing your friends and family into our story, and for choosing slow, thoughtful fashion year after year. You make every late-night sewing session so worth it!

Between spending extra late hours in the studio cutting and stitching, filling custom orders, and heading out to fantastic local markets, my hands have been happily full. Business has been bustling, and I am so deeply grateful for every single one of you who supports this business of mine ❤️
