First time and probably the last time I have created a segmented bowl in a herringbone pattern. Crazy glue up with a lot of gaps but in the end it turned out ok.

Oak Pallet Wood Butcher Block Chip-n-Dip bowl. Not finished yet. Waiting on client to tell me what kind of finish they want. I prefer using a glass bowl for easier clean up and you don’t have to worry about whatever kind of dip is put in the bowl penetrating the finish. If they break the bowl the Dollar Tree has plenty in stock to replace it.

Sometimes when you are making something it doesn’t go exactly as planned. This project was an attempt at making a thin walled wooden flower. But when I cut it to thin and the top came off I had to change directions. I took the top and turned it over and glued it to the base so it turned out looking like a mushroom.

Set it to the side for a while disappointed that my original project was a bust.

This morning I desired to get my laser etcher out try to salvage the project. These pictures are what it turned out to be.

Had a gentleman close by gave me a lot of wood from part of a big oak tree that fell in his yard. I always make something for people that give me wood. This one is a 9” x 3” bowl of of a peace of burl that he gave me.

Never tried making anything with a purchased part. Decided to give it a try with this drink cut insert. Used Oak Burl with a spray on poly finish.
