I said what I said 😭🧶🔥

These are my PERSONAL amigurumi hot takes:
🧶 CH 2 + Sl st starts are elite
🧶 Sewing pieces on > hot glue
🧶 Spiral rounds forever
🧶 Acrylic yarn deserves more love
🧶 And sewing in ends is VERY satisfying

Listen… some of these opinions are not shared in the crochet world 😭 but after making so many amigurumi pieces, this is where I’ve landed.

Also before anyone comes for me:
✨ crochet has NO rules
✨ if your method works for YOU, that’s what matters
✨ this is all in good fun

Have you been seeing all the cute things you can make with crochet and want to try, but don’t know where to start?!😅🧶

Here’s a quick breakdown:

👉Hooks: start with the sizes H, I, J, or K. Going too small or too large can make learning tricky.

👉Yarn: there are so many pretty yarns out there, but for your first yarn you’re going to want to go with a basic light colored acrylic (you’ll thank me later!)😉

👉Practice: Make chains, then frog them (rip them out). Repeat until you feel comfortable, then you can start moving up the basic stitches!

The hardest part is just keeping at it! Making your stitches even and consistent takes time, but it’s so worth it!
Before long, you’ll be crocheting beautiful pieces, so happy crocheting!🧶

Crochet Myths that need to GO🧶✂️

There are so many myths in crochet that sound true when you’re new… and sometimes even when you’ve been doing it for years.

That mistakes ruin a project.
That slow makers aren’t skilled.
That you have to hit some imaginary level before sharing what you know.

I just don’t believe that.

Some of the most thoughtful makers I know work slowly.
Some of the best designers learned by experimenting.
And handmade, by nature, carries humanity in it, little quirks included.

If you’ve been doubting yourself lately in your craft, I hope this encourages you:

Some of these might be controversial, but they’re my honest thoughts after years of crocheting 🧶

✨ Center pulls > chasing yarn across the floor
✨ Missing a stitch isn’t always the end of the world
✨ Metal hooks just feel better
✨ Ergonomic hooks… I’m still side-eyeing you
✨ And YES- you can turn crochet into income

At the end of the day, there’s no “right” way to crochet—just what works for YOU 🤍
