07/07/2026
Well, it's (finally) time to fill you all in on some big changes for 2026.
This year, we'll be operating without a storefront. We'll still offer the same outings, lessons, rentals, and repairs you've always asked of us. The biggest change for you is that we ask for 24-hour notice for any bookings.
With this new model, we'll be able offer more daytime events alongside the familiar evening and weekend schedule, and we'll be able to choose the best location to meet for rentals based on the wind & weather. Our goal, as always, is to provide you with the best experience we can.
Retails sales will happen more remotely, or by appointment. We can still supply you with whatever you need to get on the water.
Where is all this coming from?
The mayor of Mayville decided not to renew last year's agreement. He entered into negotiations knowing full well that what he was asking for was more than we could afford, and in the end he said that he had "decided to move in a newer direction." The space we were in is now empty. (Mike is biting his tongue so hard it's bleeding right now.)
On top of that, brick-and-mortar retail has been getting harder to maintain throughout the industry for several years, now. Peoples' buying habits have changed, and the reduced walk-through traffic simply doesn't pay the rent anymore. Most of you make more purchases online, and work harder to find used products there ... if you have enough expendable income in the first place. (And who can blame you?)
We liked last year's model, and it would have been nice to continue working with Mayville (and bringing all of you there) for several more years. That just wasn't in the cards.
Thank you all for your continued support as times change and we work to find ways to serve your needs.
Hope to see you on the water soon!
