Vintage Rhinestone Cherry Brooches Set

A delightful pair of vintage rhinestone cherry brooches with green leaves by Warner, circa 1960s.

Each brooch features deep garnet-colored rhinestone chatons forming the cherries, and vivid green marquise-cut rhinestones for the leaves, all set against a striking black japanned finish — a glossy lacquered coating that adds both depth and drama to the design.

In Europe, the japanning technique involved applying layers of resin-based varnish, heat-dried and polished to achieve a luxurious, mirror-like sheen — a hallmark of fine mid-century costume jewelry craftsmanship.

The brooch measures approximately 1.6" x 1" (41.5 mm x 28.5 mm) and weighs 11 grams. Both pieces are in excellent vintage condition, with rhinestones that beautifully resemble garnets. The Warner maker’s mark is present on the reverse.

Charming and full of character, these brooches embody the spirit of the 1960s — a time of bold creativity, transformation, and timeless style.
