Today we are featuring the important work of Preservation Chicago: an organization, founded in 2001, who draws attention to and builds advocacy for saving Chicago’s architecture and history. Prior to the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 it was quite easy to demolish buildings that were seen as no longer serving the city or to make way for new development. Thankfully there are a few more hoops to jump through for that to happen now, but saving these marvels still requires the public’s voice (that’s you!). Checkout their website preservationchicago.org for more information on their list of 7 Endangered Buildings for 2020, ways to get involved (as simple as signing an online petition), and dates for their bus tours, workshops, and lectures.
