Recently I misplaced my make-up bag during the move back into our home after remodeling. (You won’t be surprised to know I have a small batch of make-up.) I don’t have any other make-up so I had to replace all of the items. Two weeks later I found the original bag. Now I have 2 bags in my drawer and find having duplicates makes my morning a little more confusing. Sometimes when I’m in a hurry, I’ll throw the make up bag in my purse for later beautifying. You’d think I’d like having more, but I’m finding I’ve been more likely to misplace both bags now. I’m less likely to put the bag away because in my mind “I have another” but it’s not working that way. Maybe it’s my ADHD kicking in?

How to Organize Shoes:
-pull out all your shoes and boots.
-Sort them by style, heels, season, etc.
-If you have similar styles/colors, you have permission to give away the ones you won’t wear or don’t like (even if you spent a pretty penny on them!)
-For each pair of shoes, ask yourself , “Do you really wear them? Are they comfortable?” If they’re uncomfortable you’ll be reluctant to wear them and they’ll continue to take up space. Give them away
-Check each pair to see if they need repair, new heels or cleaning.
-Only after doing the sorting, tossing & creating a donation bag you can either put them back or try a different organizing product.

I'm changing my tune on clothing storage. While I love clear plastic bins for most clothing I've found that I need to wash the items after storing to remove the plastic odor. I'm now using fabric bins for nicer clothing (cashmere sweaters, etc) While fabric costs a little more, it's worth investing in a few.

Struggling to keep paperwork organized? Check out these tips on keeping bills and files easy to find! My favorite tricks are:

1. Keep only what I need
2. Store papers vertically, in clear folders so I can easily access them. (My favorites are linked)
3. Designate one place for the papers.
4. Be diligent about keeping the papers in one -- and only one spot. Then, cull through the papers weekly and toss old ones.
